stebbinsd
In vanilla Oblivion, Luck is pathetic. It's the attribute I level up when I've already gotten the other seven attributes up to maximum. The only time I ever focus on luck is when I'm trying to use the permanent enchantment glitch to increase all of my skills to an effective 100 each. I only need 24 grand soul-level enchantments (which is easy if I dupe the 2 grand soul gems in the Arch-Mage's Lobby; slightly less easy, but still within reach, if I turn them into black soul gems at Wendlebeck). Pushing my luck up to 290 causes all of my skills to work the same as if they were 100, except for the perks. I'd like to see a mod that heavily enhances the importance of luck. Nearly anything that is random in the game would be affected by luck. For example, dungeon crawling: 1. High luck would increase the odds (but it would still be random) of encountering enemies of a lower level than you, making for easier kills. Low luck (e.g. drained or damaged beneath 50) would increase the odds of finding enemies of higher level than you, like minotaur lords while you're still in single-digit levels. 2. While their level would have a greater chance of being small for lucky characters, the armor and weapons they have equipped would have a greater chance of being better for lucky characters. 2. Chests would have a greater chance of yielding better loot for luckier characters. In cities:1. Merchants' Chests would have a greater chance of having higher-quality merchandise for sale. For example, the Mystic Emporium would have a greater chance of selling grand soul gems - and also have more grand soul gems for sale - for lucky characters, while the Guilded Girafe would have a greater chance of selling higher-value apparati and/or stronger potions, as well as MORE copies of particular ingredients, for lucky characters. 2. For lucky characters, your odds go up of catching an NPC in a good mood. That is ... a random chance of the NPC having a "caught in a good mood" bonus, which adds +20 to that NPC's disposition to you before you even open the speechcraft minigame. This would give us a reason to increase our luck, and to actually LEVEL it when we level-up! Anyone else second this request?
