LE an idea for a mod that will probably never be made for very obvious reason.

i have an idea for a mod, one that i'm 99% sure no one will make? i'm just posting it anyway so that we can have a laugh at a random idea from some random nobody and i suppose it is worth putting up just incase of that unlikely 1% chance that someone does make this mod.

 

here's my idea: Training with the Greybeards.

 

allow me to explain.

 

this is a main quest mod introducing a new main quest that goes between 'The Way of the Voice' and 'The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller'. the idea of this is that you become a pupil of the Greybeards, training under them to become the Dragonborn, by being assigned a series of tasks to complete which range from getting enchanted items in dungeons to slaying a few dragons. (also adding another bed to High Hrothgar for the Dragonborn to sleep in).

 

the reason i had this idea is that i feel it's a bit unrealistic that you complete your training with the Graybeards in about 5 minutes. sure you're the Dragonborn and you learn to use the power of dragons instantly, i know how the plot goes and all that, but to have scaled 7000 steps for 5 minutes of boredom is a bit disapointing.

 

i can easily imagine that the reason Bethesda made the training only about 5 minutes long (and set up the 'you master dragon magic instantly plot element' to fit this) is because they figured a more immersive experience of training with some old hermits (meditations and lectures) would've bored gamers to death but it's not like it couldn't have been made a fun experience as i outlined.

I like the idea of the bed at the Greybeards as i often spawn one there and crafting gear and some containers.

I use their home as my home quite often..lol

 

I enjoy all the old coots company in the game :)

I give borri a glass bow and he treasures it and never takes it off his back (seems he likes the glass bow better then anything else).

I sometimes get any one of the greybeards to follow me around for a bit while I go and uncover Word Walls.

They thrive when you take em for spin, they shout down your enemies with vengeance (don't get in their way while they're doing their thing..lol)

 

I'd like to see a mod like your suggesting, I'd actually use it.

There's Thunderchild, only thing I know that comes close to what you want. You get to hang around High Hrothgar and learn new shouts.
