Funghoul
Heya I've been having issues with Skyrim lately, for some reason it won't detect my controller and the mouse and keyboard don't work either. The only buttons that I can use is the arrow keys but once I load in a game I can't do anything. I've already tried; -Verifying files-Deleting Several .ini's (SkyrimPrefs.ini and the other one in my documents aswell as the skyrim folder.)-Reinstalling-Reinstalling Xbox 360 controller drivers-Reinstalling USB Drivers-Reinstalling Steam-Launching the game without mods/dlc. (I only have alternate start and the HD texture pack installed.) I'm completely stumped by this and have no clue whats going on. The weird correlation is that I can't get the Xbox controller working either in Fallout 3 aswell as L4D2. It is not a faulty controller either since I tried another one with the same issue and it does work in Dolphin so. I'll be putting up a 10EU steam game to your choice as bounty to whoever can find the solution. Edited September 30, 2015 by Funghoul
mg88
Open up the Console and type "enableplayercontrols" without the quotes, see if that works.

The keybind ` for it doesn't work. EDIT: Never mind that! I can open up the console and the cursor appears while the console is active but typing that command in doesn't make a difference. mg88
Does it happen if you start a new game or only to an existing save?
bben46
Typically if you plug in a controller, it disables the mouse/KB input. And just uses the controller. - IF the controller is activated in game. Unplugging the controller should return control to the mouse/KB Have you tried this? There is a setting in the game to allow using a controller. After opening the game press escapeon the menu click on settings then gameplay. there is a selection to activate a 360 controller there Now back up to where you clicked on settings, this time click on controls - this is where you set up how the controls work in game. I cannot access the settings in-game because the ESC button does not work. Literally the only keyboard buttons that work are the arrow keys and Enter and Spacebar in the main menu. The Xbox controller also doesn't work meaning no button press gets registered, when I unplug it the issue remains. The arrow and enter key both still work while the controller is plugged in however. Funghoul
Well seems like I have to treat myself to a 10 EU steam game since the solution was literally as simple as googling; "Xbox 360 controller win 10 driver" Everything works now. misterD75
i know it's almost 10 years later, and the chances of you passing by are pretty much 0, but i have the exact same problem and i'd love to know how you fixed it exactly.
