SushiKing789 Posted October 5, 2015 Share Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) So, I've recently purchased Fallout 3 through steam because I played it on consoles when it came out and I wanted to try a modded playthrough. I went through all the Nexus pages I could, and assembled a simple collection of 15 mods that I downloaded using NMM, the Nexus Mod Manager. I had already made a save to get used to the PC controls, and had about 4 hours worth of gameplay logged on it, but when I realized one of the companion/quest mods I had recently installed, Ties that Bind, contained a companion that I needed to pick up in the beginning at Vault 101, I was quite sad. I considered restarting my save and loosing my, like, 6 levels to get this companion, but then I saw on the mod page that if you had already made a save or didn't pick her up in the vault, you could find her in Paradise Falls. This is important for two reasons; 1) I was overcome with glee that I didn't have to restart my game, and 2) It lead to the problem that I encountered. I loaded my save and left to Paradise Falls via fast travel, as I had done quite a bit of exploring beforehand and I already discovered it before, albeit I didn't try to enter. I talked to Grouse and eventually convinced him to let me in, and on my way in, after walking past Grouse and the other guard there, my game CTD'd. I thought "Huh, just a little crash. No big deal. I just launch the game again." I launched it again, and walked up to Grouse again. I managed to persuade him, again, and I started walking in. I remembered though that my game had crashed last time, so I stood back, just behind Grouse, and quicksaved. I figured that if it crashed again, I wouldn't have to load an autosave and redo the whole conversation with Grouse. After doing so, I walked past them again, and boom. Same thing happened. My game CTD'd, crashed, and I launched the game again, thinking that it was maybe a strange coincidence. It did this multiple times now, and my game keeps crashing, so now, I've turned to the forums for help. I've done absolutely nothing to change my esp and esm files place in my load order. This is the exact list I've had since I've downloaded all of the mods. Please, I need help from someone. If anyone can just give me something to try, I'll be grateful. Also, side note, I'm not entirely tech savvy, so try to keep possible solutions simple, shortly worded, and to the point. Purr4me Posted October 6, 2015 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Your description details list a known scripting problem.NOTE: TTB was designed to interceed with default scripting, so what you need to know is "speech chalenge" at that very spot will fail. here's why, because of default interuptions of the chalenges and the trigger zones, you need to choose another outcome to the chalenge and proceed just as you have described. each time choose a differnt path of chalenge...you will notice how this works because when you complete the scripts as it allows, you will get into PF. why? the chalenge is tighter than default, thre is a narrow margin for error.The reson is one of the other mods are hitting on the info lines of code of that cell. this happens with-----or----with out mods added but mostly due to the other mods..." changing things TTB needs to use" and those things arenot there Too use. things to do.step 1, strip down to vault 101 armor only, carry no other mods objects when beginning the quest stages. step 2,speech chalenge quess work, figure out which path will allow entry, treat this as if it were a puzzle..becaue it IS one. step 3, If thte raider that has the key you need is not there? it means the speech chalenge was incoorect, there are 3 ways in, 5 way's to fail...NOTE: failure is no key or raider available. "WILKS WON'T BE THERE".If you do manage to get in andWilks is not there ,walk up to the cage, hit the tidle key ( ~ ) and click on the gate / cage and type the word "disable" hard save there. exit the game. at the point you need to remove two items from the plugin to clear the locks the mod is placing on the quest stages, do it this way and all other assets will perform as intended, "using Fo3edit 3.1, edit the key out, left pane select remove in fo3edit, do the same for the chatracter "Wilk's" save the file and run the game...by this time due to this method, TTB should now be loading very last due to the editing of the mod.@ this time if all esle does not fail, when to speak to here, things should fire correctly from now on, and you will have fantastic companion and story to unfold....remember, all your choices with this mod makes a huge difference on game play....BIG BIG differnce, this mod..again was designed to work fluidly with default scriptings. cahnge or alter any object at all and the mod will just not work. I really appreciate you helping me.negative: there are several chalenges to the speech check's each results in specific out comes, it's the method of the chalenges / choices during the speech checks that changethe results...understand? Purr4me Posted October 6, 2015 Share Posted October 6, 2015 example: on a key pad for say a hotel door lock, the pad resembles that of a phone pad...how many sequences are possible to unlock that doors lock? this mod effect 1 -1thousandth's of this number, very small, in fact so small, there are only 3 ways in to complete the mod's scripts correctly, other wise, a lot of things just plain don't work...that includes cheats, consoling commands to bypass quest stages. each steage contains info that checks veriables to see if the stages were completed and in correct order...along with things like Karma, that's part of speech chealenges too, your charactors rep...all things matter only more intense, more severe, more important to pay attention to details. The way I got into Paradise Falls was to activate the "Strictly Business" quest. But, because I'm playing a GOOD KARMA character, I just shot Grouse in the head and I killed his buddy, the second guard. I was then able to walk in with no problems.
