My ballgag exploded after putting it in the blender

Hi guys, I tried to get into modding and started out kinky by editing a mesh from the SomeClothes mod to avoid clipping issues.

I used blender for the edit. The mesh looks fine in nifskope, and the texture loads correctly. However, when i replace the mods original .nif with the edited one, the item shows up as black in the geck, and ingame it is only sometimes visible, floating in front of my character in black or with what appears to be a normal map.

 

I tried opening the original file in nifskope and replacing (paste over) just the NiTriStripsData because the blocks are named differently after the edit, still looks fine in nifskope, texture is there, but in the geck and ingame it explodes:

The item is in the correct place, the texture is there and you can sorta make out its shape, but most (not all) of the triangles are just all over the place and that looks really painful.

 

I even tried combining both old and new into a single file. Looks fine in nifskope, both are there and textured, but in the geck the new one is black.

 

I also tried to face the normals outwards to no avail.
