Centyicq
Right i have a Wood Elf character but feel the vocals arent quite right as she is a fairly short assassin type character yet sounds like a massive high elf in heavy armour and also a bit mannish. Basically ive went down several routes trying to find a way to make the Ainmhi race files overwrite the woodelf ones basically i want my woodelf to have the hit and powerattack sounds the Ainmhi race has. I have tried using the Diverse voices .esp to load from a new folder which works however it makes the eyes of my character mess up and its like it forces the texture file to have 2 eyeballs which is not great. I then tried to use BSA commander to change the normal files but i just get no sound at all once its repacked i tried replacing all including the .lip files from the Ainmhi race folder then started again just replacing the mp3s neither of which worked for me. I need to have my character as a woodelf some of the other mods im using dont work with custom races and my game just crashes. Can anyone suggest a fix for either route i took or a new one id be very grateful.
FerretMugger
Do you just want to overwrite the existing woodelf voice files with those from the ainmhi race? Well i haven't tried that before before you should just be able to extract the bsa voice files for oblivion, copy the ainmhi voice files into the folder that contains the woodelf voices (something like data/sounds/voices/ etc). Then repack the bsa and overwrite the original. Though if you do decide to do that i would really recommend backing up your original files (and saves) before you do it. Don't quote me on this though. Have you already tried something like this? If you have then i think there is still another way if you use the construction set, and you shouldn't need to create a new custom race. SickleYield
That won't work, I don't think. Each voice entry has not just a name but a long number assigned to it by the CS when the dialogue entry is set up. As I understand it, if you want to change the voice of a race, you'd have to rename each individual entry to match the one that is set up for it already in the Oblivion.esm. E.g., the original Bosmer greeting might be greeting29833333 and the Aimhi one might be greeting1123333. If you just drop the Aimhi one into the same folder and delete the Bosmer one you will get no greeting and possibly errors. It can be done, but you'd need to make a mod .esp to go with overwriting the files.
