zantariz
We adopt children and bring them into our home. We leave a house carl and perhaps other hirelings to watch over them. Ultimately, they will need to be able to take care of themselves. They need to learn to defend themselves and to learn a profession to make a living. Swinging that wooden sword against a straw filled dummy just isn't going to cut it. Would love to see a mod that allows you to train your adopted children in weapon use and professions. A child training in alchemy could provide the player with extra ingredients... or they may get into the cookie jar and use up some of your ingredients in their training. You could sign your child up to apprentice at a temple to learn the healing arts or how to care for animals. Imagine every time you return to your house there is another chicken or fox or bunny rabbit inhabiting your yard. It would be interesting if there was an option to add some reality to the concept as well... give the child their own free will kind of thing. You send them to apprentice to the local black smith and they choose to rebel because they want to be a musician. I saw another older thread posted hear that suggested raising your child into a follower... that would be an awesome outcome of their training. Although I think I would want to have the ability to choose when they "grow up". Of course, whatever you child decides to do... it will cost you gold. Want to apprentice them to the black smith... it will cost you 500g / week... to pay for the wasted material and the time devotion. However, that cost could ultimately turn to profit once your child becomes skilled in the craft and starts earning more than they cost.
