Morrowind Armors in OB?

The ridiculous "dwarven" armor inspired me to begin the long, steep climb up the Blender learning curve. (I'm somewhere below dirt level on that totem pole, thanks for asking). But before I start, I wonder if anyone has already rendered Morrowind style Dwemer armor in OB?

If not, then I'll get started on this project. I should expect to release something slightly after TES:V and/or Fallout 3 is released (if ever).

Thanks.

I think it would be cool if someone added some of the other armor types Oblivion is missing, like bonemail, dreugh, chitin, etc. Seems like they removed most of the "non-traditional" armor types when they made Oblivion.

Armors are alot more difficult to get in game than weapons, so beware. Since you are new, I would suggest getting some experience at modelling before you attempt to get the armour in game. It really hurts to have finished a really neat model, but then you find out you don't know how to vertex paint it and rig it to bones.

I'm partially aware of how difficult it is, and the relevant technical problems as well. I don't plan on hammering through this and having a set of armor by next week. I'm still at the stage of taking a hammer to Blender to see how it reacts. The interface so far seems to be clunky, annoying, and bewildering (such as the magical disappearing toolbar thing that alternately pops up at random at the top and/or bottom of the screen, etc)

Perhaps modelling armor is overly ambitious as a first project. I'll probably tackle knock-off bits like the shield, helmet, boots, and maybe a few weapons as I work though this. (sigh)

I do appreciate the advice, though. If all I accomplish is making a half-way decent set of Morrowind style Dwemer armor, I will be satisfied.

And to Abramul: Not that armor. I was thinking of the Dwemer armor (the bashed up yellow metal stuff).

Blender's interface isn't the most user friendly for the beginner, definitely. Feel free to PM me here or at CI forum if you come to a point of wanting or needing help with the program. I'm not 1337 like Growlf or Biu, but I know it pretty well and can probably help you with making armor.

I'm already prejudiced in your favor because when I saw this thread title, I expected the content to be something like "OMG someon shud make all the morrowind armors 4 oblivion!1!"

It's always refreshing to find someone who actually wants to make something and knows it's not going to take five minutes.

:) Thanks for the vote of confidence, and the offer for help. I'm actually amazed by all of the post begging for this mod or that. I have a fairly good idea of exactly how much effort it takes to make decent models, map vertices, do UV maps, texture and so on, and it just floors me to read some of those posts.

I just recently (as of an hour ago) found my way to the "noob to pro" Blender tut. I see now that Blender seems to have sort of "unix" type features (mouse over window to focus, etc). This helps immensely, although I was extremely fustrated the first time I tried to export from NifSkope and import into Blender (operation far from successful, I might add). Plus the magical teleporting "toolbar" thing was rather irritating...

Just for background, I tried my hand at Half-Life modding with Milkshape back in the day, but didn't have enough time to devote to the learning curve (married with children). More recently I (again unsuccessfully) attempted to make models for Command & Conquer with similar results. For once I actually have the time, so I'm going to make the most of it.

In the mean time, I think I'll satsify my modding desires by working on a minor quest or something, just to get the "create something" urge out of my system and knuckle down to the real work.

Bonemould is made from the bones of animals found most commonly in Vvardenfell and the region. In the DLC Mehrune's Razor, A letter can be found detailing the problems encountered with working on the brittle bones of the Cyrodillic Empire. Chitin is the material that makes up the cell wall of Fungi (I do biology) and There are no giant mushrooms in Cyrodill

I'm pretty sure Chitin armor is made from some of the giant insects found in Morrowind.

[Having checked] yep.

EDIT: Surprisingly, it seems that Bonemold is ALSO made of shell, albeit softened.

NOTE: I did realize you were specifically referring to Dwemer armor, the High Ordy stuff was the only Morrowind-cloned armor I'd seen.
