Crash on stage 47 - 65 quest "Forsworn Conspiracy"

Hello comunity

 

I'd like to report a small bug i found in my latest playthrough while trying to complete the quest "Forsworn Conspiracy" (Quest ID MS01 i think). Just in case, this never happened to me before

 

Basicly everything goes fine till the point i confront either Nepo or Thonar (quest stage "find evidence about....") . After recieving the notification "completed: find evidence about..." i can no longer save a game. Doesn't matter what method i try, quicksave, manual save or autosave when i do any of these the game will CTD

If i do not try to save the game i can keep playing. And yes, if i do not speak to them i can keep playing too with no problem.

Is this topic related? If so, how can i fix it?

I posted in that same thread (as Steelman) but i figured that might not be the best forum to ask , so i decided to mention it here.

PS: I know i have a lot of mods and that doesnt help either, but again the CTD only happens when i try to save and the quest is on a stage further than 47. So its either quest related (i dont think any of my mods alter quests) or faction related. This last case i tried disabling Awakaned magica and OBIS, but the problem persisted

Had a look in tesvedit for conflicts on that quest? Might be a script waiting or broken causing the ctd on save. I didnt look at the loarder but any mods remotely touching this quest?

Apologize for my poor mod knowledge, but how exactly i do this? Should i open all mods on TES5Edit, then apply a filter or something like that ?

 

 

Edit: Just in case, i just loaded all in TES5Edit and there are no mods conflicting with the quest other that USKP

Yeah open and apply filter, go looking for anything that is highlighted under quest. Its hard to say what causes this issue for you apart from looking for a conflict because it could be anything from a broken save game to a mod conflict

The only highlighted part is the one i posted and done by the USKP. Thats why i was asking if it had something to do with the post in the AFK forum i linked regarding aliases and USKP breaking quests

It seems there is is something broken on that quest stage, ill have a better look in the morning with CK and see if i cant spot a workaround. Id say the save game is crashing because the script is stuck somehow. I would of thought USKP would have fixed it if it touched it :/. Funnily enough though, that was the last quest i did on my last save game that i abandoned due to massive updates, and it played out fine both ways. Maybe has something to do with me NEVER using autosave and quicksave?

Thanks for taking the time. I do not know if it helps, but i opened the save file in the save cleaner tool to see what strings i have with "forsworn", so i am transcribing them here

The only thing i noticed is that in the first script mentions "Start Another Life". I have no clue why tho, since i chose to start at Winterhold College as a mage apprentice

May be that's the culprit? I will PM Arthmoor just in case

Curious you have 5 instances of ms02 script with what seems to be no data in it. Im not an expert on this, couldnt suggest to remove those instances without breaking the whole thing. If you manage to get hold of Arthmoor, ask him about that. I dont have my old saves with that quest active atm

Okay so when in Nepos house, after you kill him open the console and type player.setstage 00018b4b 65 or if in Thonars type the same but with 55 at the end. See if that allows you to save and exit.
