Vythicus
For those having what sounds like the same prob i had (damn tree) try 'movetoquesttarget' in the console. i did and then there was no problem for me. okay, first of all, sorry for double-posting but this one's important - I finally got it to work. this is how I did it: I opened the interior cell (XPMilchar3) in the CS (vers 1.2), switcxhed to the Script editor via Gameplay -> Edit Scripts, opened the Standing Stone Script (SE11bStandingStoneScript), recompiled it and simply saved the *.esp.That makes the Quest work again. hope it helps ya. GREAT. I'll try recompiling it, because I've been stuck in this spot for days... reloading old saves and wandering around.. I almost never cheat, but I had a feeling this was a broken quest, and decided to look here for a spoiler or for information about a fix. So for a few days I've been stuck and trying to play the game, and all I could think about was how pissed off I was that I couldn't do anything about it. You see, I haven't had internet access for like 5 months untill tonight. That's completely unacceptable that they would ship the game with a broken main quest, especially since at this stage in the game, you can no longer leave Shivering Isles. I guess you can after you complete this last quest? I want to swap some gear, and store away some of my new items, but I can't buy a house here. Instead, I have about 900 lbs. of loot that I want to keep, that I have been lugging around, I can't even walk unless I use constant 20 second strength fortification, or the longer lasting, but even more annoying feather magic, (which, if you try to roll a mage and only have 8 slots for spells or what-have-you, then you won't be putting feather on your hotkey.. but that's a whole other rant) and I can't leave Shivering Isles until I complete a quest that is un-completable. I'm so glad I finally got internet service back. I feel sorry for anyone that doesn't have it. Meaning that this bug breaks the whole Oblivion game. At this stage of the game, you can't leave the island, and your stuck like that becuase I can't complete the quest that lets me leave. Not only that, but they put the bugged quest down a huge hole with no way out, so If you have only one save game (very bad idea) then you would be unable to play the game any further. Now, everyone here has internet access, but what if you didn't? You bought the expansion, and you are stuck and vulked. You couldn't download the patch or anything. Now we are forced to fix the quest ourself with the CS editor, which must be downloaded, and requires the highest version of the Construction Set, which is bugged to hell, and needs to be patched itself. So with the FormID problem that, after a certain amount of hours, makes your save game unplayable anymore, and this broken quest that leaves you stuck on SI, or stuck in a hole even... PFFfft. Someone is getting fired. :excl: ... and Oblivion still crashes to desktop when I exit the game. EDIT: I compiled the script as a seperate .esp and tested it and the quest worked perfectly. I tried to upload the fix to the tessource files, but my internet crashes everytime, and I have to reset the modem. I have no idea, i just got this new ISP and some hardware today. So, it seems I can't upload, hopefully I can get this worked out soon. Meantime, someone else will have to upload it. blaXXer, you can create a seperate .esp and upload it you know. It seems to me that you ammended the Oblivion main data file to fix it, but you can still create a seperate .esp and upload it (but you won't need to use it yourself). This way, people without the ability or the CS version 1.2 will still be able to complete this quest, and continue playing this buggered but amazing expansion. Mods can you delete my attempted file upload to tessource named ' SI main quest fix ', or something like that? Sorry for the trouble, I was trying to help. -V
Malchik
I have no problem on this quest and so it can't be a bug (on the European edition at least). If I understand Abramul's post in the warning thread re form IDs you will not be able to apply Bethesda's fix patch if you have already downloaded their main game patch. Could that be your problem with itv Vythicus? And I too get ctds on exit from the Shivering Isles although the game saves perfectly well. As a note for those of you playing Companion mods, afaik you cannot take companions into the Shivering Isles. (Would anyone else like to confirm?) Also if you create one in Shivering Isles, they cannot leave (to start with the Gatekeeper will attack them). You can circumvent that with the console but the character does still not go though the portal into Cyrodiil.

I have the US version, I'm not running any crazy mods though, I've got some texture replacers and I've changed sounds and a few gameplay parimeters, like death reload time, and simple things like that. I'm not saying it can't be my doing, in fact thats what I suspected all along. It's just that I can't see how any of my mods would force me to recompile the script - whatever that would even change is beyond me, since the script isn't changed what-so-ever. I can only assume that it makes it run the check to see if your on the quest again (the first time something wrong happens?) or something. I haven't applied the Shivering Isles Beta patch, because I don't want to reinstal and lose my save progress, like it warns you that you will have to when the final patch is released. If you remember the oblivion final patch took forever to come around, and there are still thousands of bugs and some major problems that were never addressed, these were fixed mostly by the unofficial oblivion patches. I have installed the Unofficial Form ID fix, though I don't fully know the repricussions of doing so. I don't know if I'll have to reinstall or if I'll lose my save progress when they give us a final SI patch, in other words. -V Oh, by the way, kudos for the fix blaXXer, I'm able to progress in the game now. Cheers!
Vythicus
OK, I fixed my internet, I had disabled some stuff in the Device Manager that kept me from uploading. Here is the patch to fix this quest Shivering Isles Main Quest Patch (click link for details/download) *updated version*http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10473 Thanks to blaXXer, Toutatis, tessource.net, forum.gamingsource.net
chjoco15
no point in uploading the *.esp, may give me trouble with Bethesda I'm not willing to take. Why? You can make and upload Shivering Isle mods, as long as you don't include the original 'Shivering Isles.esm' or any of the meshes/textures. beleive it or not, shivering isle is an .esp, not an .esm. Kinda confused me why they would do that. EDIT: MOderators can delte this post. Didnt realize how long ago i was replying...

Anyhow, you bring up an interesting topic. Don't know if you noticed, but if you open the CS, and activate only Data.esm (master file) it will load all of the Shivering Isles assets. I guess Shivering Isles is just a part of the Oblivion Data.esm as far as the CS is concerned. I think what blaXXer did, was save his changes to the Oblivion.esm Data file, instead of creating a plugin. So his change is permanent, and he can't upload the Oblivion.esm Data file of course. I could be wrong, that's just what I gather. -Vythicus

Because that means a modder is more likely to use a Shivering Isles static/creature/item, and if they do that people who want to download the mod will have to buy Shivering Isles. Do like i did: 1st: do the MQ (oblivion) and complete all of the guilds.2nd: when you get tired (but REALLY tired) of oblivion buy or download the shivering isles.3rd: do the MQ (shivering isles) and all the side quests.4th: when you get tired again, upload or download mods. :) OR ELSE prepare to meet bugs. *dread guy*
