pjratekjng
I've never used console to click on objects before. How do I go about doing that? And when I do, what do I do with the information I get? how would i get rid of it?
SMB92
What you do is press the tilde ~ and make sure you're facing the way of the objects you want to click. The console pauses the game, then you just click on any object and it should give you a number, what your looking for is the first two digits, if they are anything other than 00 or ff than this indicates which mod or dlc with the corresponding numbers in the first two positions. This number changes when a mod has moved position in the load order so youll always know which mod it belongs to. The way the numbers work is from 0-9 then a-f. So for example, 08, 09, 0A, 0B, then after 0f will go to 10, 11 etc. Now its best to click on referenced objects such as barrels, houses etc rather than just the static landscape because the game merges all the sort of stuff into its own block which is usually ff (the final, 256th block). So if you click on a placed objext and it comes up say 1Exxxxxx that means whichever mod in spot 1E is the cause/mod that edits this area. Keep clicking on objects around the area until you find something from a custom slot. Also note that when you click something twice, the number disappears, but should just change if you click something different. Ive written this in detail so other users might stumble across it and understand it better too.
pjratekjng
All of these objects start with a "00". What then? Actually all objects say the same thing, even clearly modded things; such as npc's. They all show "00000014". Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Or, as you said the game merged it into its own block. Is this still fixable? Edited October 19, 2015 by pjratekjng
SMB92
14 is the player, as in 00000014 is your character lol. So if wvery object you pressed in the area is showing 00 than what you have is a mod that ONLY touches the landscape itself. Which is kinda odd and silly but anyway. Bu the way, its only mod added things, for instance if it is a vanilla npc you click and he is modded, it still shows 00. Back to tesvedit it is. Go expand Cell and Worldspace categories after applying a filter and look for anything showing orange or red. If you find a mod that is seemingly making edits, but not necessarily whiterun, go expand that particular plugin and look in it. If its doesnt seem to be that, try again. Might take you a little while.
