MarkAmikaze
Hello, I tried playing Oblivion a year and a half ago, but only spent about 20 hours at it. I keep reading about how good the game is, so I am going to try and mod it this time. I was hoping to find similar mods to what I've used in Skyrim or mods that are Skyrim-noob friendly. I've finally learned how to mod properly this week.I think if I can get the right combinations that this game can be as good as Skyrim in many ways and better in some. If you know of any good lists that you can link to, or suggestions, that would be great. I tried an essential mod search and there was so many differences in the lists that I was overwhelmed. For those familiar with modding skyrim too, I'll list the mods I found most game enhancing just in case there are Oblivion equivalents that might be recognized. I've got Oblivion patched including the Unofficial ones. My system is low @ 2.8ghz, 2gb RAM, 512 GPU. I know I can't do much for the visuals, but hope to enhance gameplay.I don't know if Oblivion had much randomness built in like Morrowind, but if there are mods for that aspect, I'm going to try and find them. Thanks for any suggestions. Here's some mods I loved in Skyrim: A Quality World Map (to me) Alternate Start - Live Another Life --I understand where to make the first Oblivion save. Auto Unequip Ammo --Sometimes Mages need to use bows too. Categorized Favorites Menu--What a difference quick keys make. DIsparity --I liked starting lower level then other mods allowed. Dark Dungeons --The imagination can be a scary thing. Follow Me--Much more realistic and I liked choosing my fighting grounds. Genesis --Random encounters with enemies keeps the game fresh. Immersive HUD --Minimization is great. No Sneak Attack Sound Realistic Needs and Diseases--Surprisingly immersive. Audio Overhaul Tougher Traps Ultimate Combat Combat Evolved

MarkAmikaze
Reading the guide's System Requirements, it looks like I am at about half of the minimum. Are Oblivion mods more script heavy than Skyrim's? Because of the release date, I thought that I might be able to mod a bit more freely, as long as I didn't go for any taxing Graphics mods. Never mind, I just read that Oblivion wasn't modded as much as Morrowind, maybe less modder friendly? Any advice on what to expect from attempting to mod? lubronbrons
for mod you should go look texture mod I think, & great mod fps enhancher such as OSR - QTP3R Reduced Mx : mini version of great texture replacement of Qarls- Oblivion Polygon Overhaul : I think this increase my fps a bit by 2-3 and not noticing any big difference in my eye- Jhaeriks Dungeon Fog Remover : this helps me reduce sttuter in interior- Wisemans Reduced Textures : this is optimized texture pack I think it helps? dunno, but I include it for better fps in mind. there is a doubt about this, but I'am positive this mod helps- No Refraction Spells : it says magic that cause CTD will reduced, dunno so far I don't have that issue. Just for safe keeping- Landscape LOD Textures by Xerus : replace LOD to the better one and more dense tree- Detailed Terrain mod : this is optimized texture pack I think it helps me get better fps in 2-3- Ayleid Ruins Replacer for NBB2 : I love this one, it makes me motivated. the walls and everything is like milk texture :3 oh..... BTW, this texture pack is gonna make you CTD if you not delete file named 'arvarlastone01.nif' I have tested this again and again this is a case of missing texture meshes something like that. so .... delete it and you Good to go- Imperial City Reloaded v2 : another texture pack that I love, this makes IC more clean and majestic
bben46
I see this all of the time, people asking for recommendations when the recommendations are actually built right in to Nexus. 99% of the recommended mods will be those that are the most endorsed - because that is what endorsements are. Every nexus game has a list ( actually several sorted by different criteria) of every mod for that game from most endorsed to least. To find it - from the front page of that game, or any mod page - look at the top set of tabsFind the Files tab - DO NOT click on it - hover your mouse over it and a drop down list will showFor the most endorsed mods - click on Top Files from that list ( there are some other useful things in that list also)For the terminally lazy, here is a a direct link to the Oblivion Top Files - but you will miss out on the other useful stuff  http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/top/? Then I see, "But I just want some new Armor" (or some other specific type of mod) That is in the Categories list - again under the Files tab. There is even a sort by ( you choose the sort criteria) on the right. The default is by most endorsed. And an Attributes that allows you to filter the list for better control of what you see. Look and you may find some interesting stuff.
