Help with "Viconia DeVir" (Voiceless)

Hi there everyone!

 

I've recently installed the mod called "Viconia DeVir" and, somehow, she is completely voiceless (reinstalling the ESP or sound files doesen't seem to fix the problem).

Although I had some similar problems in the past (my oblivion version was the spanish one), I managed to solve them upacking the voice BSAs and changing the voice folders name to their english version counterparts. This time this doesn't seem to work.

 

If there's anything I can do to make it clearer, please, let me know.

This is a total shot in the dark, but sometimes it helps to just open the esp in the CS and save it without changing anything. At least that helps with the english version of Oblivion, so that the esp automatically drops to the bottom of the load order and is practically one of "your" esps. Edited by chakaru11

Well Viconia, as far as game files go, looks for her voice in data\sound\voice\UnderdarkSaga.esp\High Elf\F\

I would verify that you didn't bash her into your bashed patch as a High Elf and thereby redirect her to the standard High Elf voice.

Also check to see if your udarksagaFFF.esp didn't do something either.

 

Oh, and @Chakaru, I wouldn't recommend doing that with any esp that has an esp master dependency or you'll break that dependency relationship.

Ok then, I've reinstalled a fresh versionof the esp, checked that the voice files were where they were supposed to and uninstaled underdarksagaFFF.esp: No results so far.

 

About what you said of "verifying if I didn't bash her as a high elf... can you please be more specific? how do I check/solve that? I started modding my game not so long ago, and I can't understand what you said (I'm still not familiar to wyre bash).

Well wrye bash, if you merge races, will collate all the races together to avoid *undesired* conflicts (if you check merge races when bashing your patch). I haven't looked at the Viconia esp in a long time but I know she uses the high Elf voice files released with the mod. My assumption is that wrye bash is smart enough to not redirect custom esp voice files but if the esp lacks any bash helper tags it just might redirect her to the High Elf voice directory instead of the esp's custom high elf voice directory. A fast way to check would be to copy all of her voice files from the custom directory to the game's base high elf voice file directory and see if she can now speak. It shouldn't harm anything to do so.

Is there any way to manually arrange the folders in order for de ESP to recognise them? Can I track where does the ESP look for the voice files in the CS?

 

PS.: Have I mentioned that I DO have subtitles when I talk to her or when she talks to other people (I use Elys silent voice).

 

EDIT:After some time trying to understand how the CS works, I've found that this mod is looking for the spanish name of the voice files (Alto elfo), instead of the english ones, as any other mod of mine does. Still don't know why, but it seems renaming the folders fix it.

Well, I'd suggest using TES4Edit to check the files instead of the CS. It's a far simpler method and will show you exactly what overrides what in your load order. It's also a quick and easy editor for your esp's. It will also show you language conflicts in your esp's which will always show as an override of a default value. Since your installation is a Spanish installation, I'm assuming by default the "Imperial Market District" for example is named "Barrio del mercado de la Ciudad Imperial" and all the other locations follow the same Spanish naming conventions? If so, I'd imagine nearly all English-language mods will show a ton of overrides because all their entries use the English installation names. Do your path names of your installation also use Spanish words? The default location of a voice file is data\sound\voice\(name of esp or esm, Oblivion.esm for vanilla game voices)\(Race Name)\(Gender, M or F)\ so if yours are located in data\sound\voice\UnderdarkSaga.esp\High Elf\F\ that would be correct for an English-language installation... perhaps Spanish uses something like datos\sonido\voz\UnderdarkSaga.esp\High Elf\F\ ?
