ERASERhead1
I was wondering if some of the loyal, dedicated, and often times underappreciated modders would explain to a layman such as myself some of the challenges faced (as well as limitations) with this Modkit. Witcher 3 is the 13th most modded game on the Nexus, yet the majority of mods seem very lackluster in comparison to the likes of what Bethesda enables modders to create with the Creation Kit. This is in no means meant as a dig on the modding community, as I have posted comments enough on mod pages and have had responses from modders who have expressed the diificulty and often times strange limitations of the ModKit. I feel a proper dialogue between modders and the end consumer would offer some transparency that would be beneficial to those like myself who would like to be more in the know. Thank you modders for all of your hard work and for sharing.
PaulMcGann
Not a problem, Eraserhead1. Check my post in the thread Witcher 3: Mod talk>Witcher 3 Modkit Update released thread for specifics, but basically there are only 3 functions of Modkit (when we were promised much, much more). We are only able to use 1 of them properly. That's if Modkit works in the first place. It's also completely not user-friendly (as we were also promised), completely lacking a GUI. Again, I've already posted all the details you need in another thread, but there's the gist of it right there.

OlekKing
In a nut shell - Fans: "CDPR, we really want to build a house! Can you provide us with the tools?" CDPR: "Sure, here's a shovel".CDPR promised multiple times before the release of the game that we would get the "tools to build a house", they spoke to press about it, various devs talked about it on the subreddit and the official forums. And we only ended up getting a rusty, shitty shovel. You know, I wouldn't really be mad if they never had made so many promises. I mean we couldn't really be pissed if they never promised anything and gave us something, as little as it was. But that isn't the case.

CDPR: "Sure, here's a shovel".More like: CDPR.."here is a pair of chopsticks , they can function much like a shovel..have fun building a house" Worst game editor I have ever tried to wrestle with, totally non intuitive, the GUI is MIA and only a portion of the long hyped functions available. I thought that once the ModKit update hit the road we would have something better to work with..sigh. Hear that laughter foolish modders?.... it's the gaming gods. PaulMcGann
The whole issue has made me lose faith in cdpr. They seem to have sold out. I spent my money based on a promise from them. That is false advertising, and I'm no lawyer, but isn't that illegal?

That is false advertising, and I'm no lawyer, but isn't that illegal? The visual/technical downgrade is a much bigger example of false advertising because it's something you could clearly see and they used it to promote the game for long periods of time, under the label of "in-game footage" or "gameplay". That has a much bigger case and I think a successful lawsuit would be possible in that case, as for mod support, not so much because it wasn't really part of an official marketing campaign, it was just mentioned by the developers in interviews and on forums/reddit/social media. It's an absolute f*#@ing displeasure to mod this game and the amount of work needed for simple things is absurd and out of this world. GTA V is easier to mod and it has no mod support whatsoever and it's made by a 100% console dev. Edited October 26, 2015 by OlekKing

I literally bought Witcher 3 based on the promise of the awesome modding tool. And they didn't fulfill that promise. Again, I'm not a lawyer, just a fan who used to love this company and is now completely disillusioned. They're sell-outs for sure. In every sense of the word. (Btw - I'm not saying you're wrong. I think you're right, and then there's this too.)

If it had been part of an official marketing effort that would be easy to go after, if for example they mentioned it on trailers/art/screenshots/graphics etc...
