question about disabling console

Hi, I'm planning on starting a new "honest" file for Shivering Isles, and don't think I can keep from using the console on my own. Is there any mod out there that would block me froom openning the console?

I'll tell you what I tell the others: in my opinion I think it is unwise. The console has many, many useful functions other than cheating, and some of those functions can get you out of sticky situations (accidentally attacking an essientail, breaking a quest). If you find the game to hard an always want to cheat, just try putting the difficulty down. Makes the game alot easier so you don't need god mode or anything. then you just gradually drag the slider up when you feel ready for it.

Or, look for mods that adjust certain things within the game to make it slightly easier in some respects, but not stupidly easy. If you have to use "kill" on every NPC you come across, and "additem XXX" every time you need something; you either need to learn some self control, learn how to play the game, have your settings wrong, or need to look for some mods.

Unmodded, Oblivion is almost totally unplayable in my (and several others) opinion, which is why we have it for PC and not X-Box, so we can fix it and add our own personal flavorings to the game.

But if you insist on blocking the console, you can change a line in your oblivion.ini file, which you can find at my documents/my games/oblivion. bAllowConsole=1. Change it to bAllowConsole=0

The game's not too hard; its just, for me, a little too tempting to just add a little extra gold, or teleport to wherever you're going, or allow yourself to carry a little more. Thanks for informing me on how o disable it in the ini: besides, I can always change it back if a quest breaks. Thanks again.
