I am pretty sure its vram related as it started happening soon after using the Skyrim Mod Manager to merge a few texture mods for my game. What happens is that I could be doing anything in game, though it happens most often in exterior cells, and out of nowhere the framerate will drop from 45-60 to 15-20 for a few seconds and up to a minute. After that the game will either go back to 45-60 fps and continue as if nothing happened, or I will experience a series of weird glitches eventually leading to a CTD. The glitching consists of the following: 1. All NPCs will have their eye textures turn black2. If its raining, rain will flicker in and out of existence. Fog also does the same.3. Some ground/environmental textures will turn black4. At the exact moment the glitching start, I hear a "bleep" sound come from my speakers5. I am also using the RealVision enb with all presets to ultra. Performance wise, my game runs anywhere between 45-60 fps on exterior cells and at 60 fps on interior cells. I backed up my textures before using the mod combiner, but reverting back to those did not help. It looks like I am running out of vram but that shouldn't be the case since I have 4gb of it, right? Disabling enb doesn't help either. The glitching and fps drop also seems to happen when loading an exterior cell, and loading a savegame solves the weird glitches. Any ideas? Thanks! SMB92 Posted October 28, 2015 Share Posted October 28, 2015 Samsung 840 is known to slow to a crawl after a while, due to firmware bugs. This would partly explain some of the loading pauses you are seeing. Also turn off expandsystemmemoryx64 in enblocal, it leads to random crashes in around the 30mins mark in game. Now you will always get this stutter/drop when walking from place to place outdoors. This is because the cpu suddenly has to render everything as you walk from "grid to grid". Sorry to tell you but all you can do about it is decrease quality so much that the cpu can load it faster. If you balance out your graphics quality enough youll be able to live with it. There is a trick i use that appears to work better than what most people would assume. Now its well said that setting ugrids higher than 5 is a no go. However i have played 500 hours with it on 7. ENB has this "occlusion culling" which stops the renderer rendering things not in sight mostly. So what i do is set ugrids to 7 and what i find is i get less loading stutter/pauses but in some places my fps is lower than 60 whereas it was 60 on 5 grids. What you get from this is smoother transitions at the cost of overall fps. The reason why is because at 7 grids, it loads past what you can see mostly, and occlusion culling should help in that way. But other than that you can blame Bethesda. Whiterun plains will always be an ugly stutterfest. Just try to smooth it out as much as you can. I should give a little more detail, I don't see any loading pauses while playing the game unless I encounter the bug, and it seems to happen when loading some exterior cells only. I have tried decreasing quality by reverting back to my older textures (when I did not have any issues) and deleting the skyrim ini files to use the game's default settings, but I am still seeing this bug. Only way to stop it is to decrease draw distance/amount of objects. See, the amount of objects = amount of draw calls, as you walk along the game drops out objects and suddenly replaces that with more draw calls, causing the stutter. This is technically a cpu bottleneck, but in reality the API (Directx9). Faster CPU clocks can lessen the issue. I would keep an eye on that SSD also, i mentioned that straight away because they never resolved it fully. Youve mostly got vanilla Ultra settings, this is good, but those black textures are definitely the vram. Unless your OC is passing bad frames which i have rarely seen cause the black texture (which is no texture) then that card might be bust. I think there was one other time I encountered this with an AMD card but can't quite recall. 1300mb isnt even in the realms of high usage. This is kinda a headscratcher. SMAA is evolved from this, maybe it causes said stuttering (temporal does this also i find). Also someone else just posted they dixed their game due to corrupted D3D9.dll from ENB.
