chesty762 Posted April 8, 2011 Share Posted April 8, 2011 My ConundrumI always wondered where the USMC went after the 2077 nuclear event.Using our modern-day Marine Corps as a basis for contemplation, I feel that of any branch in the military to survive the nuclear hellfire it would be them. That's not just biased enthusiasm because they're the toughest mofo's out there, but because they're split up around the world; one FMF (Fleet Marine Force) in the Pacific and one in the Atlantic/Mediterranean. That's not even counting the bases here in America, and quite frankly if the Army can survive then so can the USMC.On that note, one could assume that the surviving Marines in America may have merged with either of the two remaining military factions: The Enclave (nobody knows helicopters/vertibirds like the Marines) and the Brotherhood of Steel (a few references here and there, like Gunny [a USMC-only rank] in the Citadel back in Fallout 3) After further thought I came to the conclusion that there must be a fleet of Marines roaming the post-apocalyptic seas of the Fallout Universe, or at the least an acceptable chance that they survived as a unit outside of the BoS or Enclave. Ideas of mine include...1. possibly go by a new name (I came up with simply "The Few", as I doubt they'd have the same name after 200 years)2. they are a mobile force (some kind of flotilla in the Pacific, or even a massive airship kinda like this one: http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8974)3. they are masters of marksmanship, vertical envelopment (assaults via helicopters/vertibirds), may OR may not have access to power armor4. have very high standards of fitness (more buff than your average Fallout survivor)5. USMC doctrine is already deemed near-fanatical and highly dogmatic; after 200 years of hard survival in the atomic wastes it very well may transcend dogma and become a full-blown religion If anyone else sympathizes and thinks the USMC got jipped out of their future then feel free to come up with more ideas.
