Francescos Creatures and Items: what do the general loot settings in the .ini actually do? And how do you change eqiupment rarity?

Howdy,

I've been experimenting with this mod and really appreciate how it changes the leveled lists so that late game isn't populated solely with high-level items. However, I want to make some changes to the probability of certain items appearing as NPC equipment and I'm finding it utterly opaque when it comes to editing something like that. Specifically, I want to completely remove glass and daedric items from marauder and bandit equipment, as well as heavily increasing the probability that they will be equipped with low-tier items, while not completely eliminating the chance that they will be equipped with high level items like ebony, orcish etc.

My first question is this: what do the 'general loot settings' in the .ini actually affect? The .ini says "numbers here control the probabiity of loot. Higher values mean a LOWER chance of receiving loot." However, it never explicitly defines what 'loot' is. Chests? NPC equipment? If it includes the latter, there is no perceivable difference between the lowest possible value and the highest.

My second question is this: how do you change the probability that NPCs will be equipped with certain items? Francesco's mod seems to rely at least in part on calipers with scripts attached to them. Could anybody please explain what the heck is going on there and how one might edit the probability of certain items appearing as NPC equipment?

Thirdly: am I just wasting my time trying to mess around with this stuff, and if so could you please recommend an alternative leveled list mod that isn't bloated with extraneous stuff like extra weapons, items and creatures and that will sharply reduce the prevalence of high-level items without making everything completely static?

Thanks for th tips!
