Centered 3rd person camera mod

I don't know if it's the FOV, but this seems particularly bad in this game. Maybe also the way the character moves, my brain is getting pseudo-vertigo seeing the character onscreen moving in a different direction than the camera.

IIRC the execrable Max Payne 3 was this way.

Obviously not everyone sees it the same way, but, options.

You aren't the only one. My eyes naturally follow the crosshair, even in 3rd person. But the body movement of the player doesn't quite match, giving the camera a delayed swinging effect which makes it more difficult to aim and causes the motion sickness.

Just wanted to add my support. I'm exclusively third-person player as I loathe FPS and FP in general. They can't just toss in the viewpoint to give the guise of versatility; they need to accommodate accordingly with settings for third-person.

It's not even over the shoulder camera, its three person to the right camera. Over the shoulder would mean it is next to the head allowing you to see what the crosshair is on with the head blocking whats immediately left of the cross hair and shoulder under it. Then in combat it moves? Theres absolutely no need to have in combat and out of combat differences with what they call "Over the shoulder".

My bugbear for these sort of cameras is I am constantly running into stuff or I am not behind cover that I thought I was if I use them.

3P camera here is really odd. It's almost good when you zoom out all the way, but the closer you zoom in, the more your player characters heads off towards the left side of the screen. Zooming in and then holding aim almost puts your character entirely off screen. It's ridiculous.

Hello,

Like previous Fallout/ElderScrolls games, I will pretty much refuse to play till the "centered 3rd person camera mod" comes out. I never use mods in games, even so the first mod I felt "forced" to apply was that one and Bethesda games lose 50% of graphical and gameplay fun without it, for me personally. I know it's one of the most downloaded mods usually, therefore I'm not the only one that thinks the camera should always be centered (first or 3rd person).

Previous times it came pretty much at day one (or two), I never had to wait long, but I open this topic because the sooner it comes, the better.

I'll probably just create the character and go in 1st person the first steps till I can enjoy the full game through 3rd person with that mod.

As the graphic engine seems to be pretty much the same, this should be easy for whoever did this before, therefore I ask you to make that mod as soon as possible for all of the players which never understood why we should play with a visual handicap on one side of the monitor (the only true reason is the "cinematic view", which is not enough good reason for me to delete immersion, proper aim and destroy movement precision).

Thank you in advance, I hope it's not too difficult to implement as it's just a few values changes with camera's position I guess.

Bye.

Agree, shoulder cameras are an awful trend.

At least they should give us an option to center it and swap shoulder.

centerd cameras are usually centerd on the horozontal axis, and raised above the characters head. for most things (aside from looking up) its still accurate when firing your weapon. And if you need 'true' accuracy(IE: sniping) you go into first anyways.

the off centerd camera just causes me to get a splitting headache within moments, and usually, horrible nausia (can only play for 15-20 min before I have to shut down the game and spend an hour resting in a dark room, ALL games that do the heavy off centerd mode cause this)

Honestly,, with all the people who have repeatably requested directly to bestha (and zenimax) to add in the OPTION for other angles, Im really, really suprised they still keep trying to 'force' this crap on us.

So many 'decent' games were simply unplayable becuase they decided to 'lock' this angle on you, and it does not (at least for me, i don't know about others) improve how it 'looks' nor does it make playing easier/better/etc. It looks unnatural and convorted.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds shoulder cameras to be absolutely unplayable. Makes me sick too, annoys me like no other thing having one side of the screen basically blind and I have problems running straight. It's an abomination.

I don't know if it's the FOV, but this seems particularly bad in this game. Maybe also the way the character moves, my brain is getting pseudo-vertigo seeing the character onscreen moving in a different direction than the camera.

IIRC the execrable Max Payne 3 was this way.

After having played the game now for 5 plus hours I can agree with being in a disorented state due to the FOV.

IT is mostly a issue in 3rd person but 1st person isn't good for me either and I feel I probably would enjoy more FOV there as well.

I noted after playing I don't feel I have a issue with the default game center in 3rd person ,

though at times it surecan make navigation wonky. That is when I flip to 1st person , that and for other certain activities .

I'll amend also my prior comment on zoom out. I think it is not too badt, and going

by 2 plus year old memory I think this game default zoom out max is greater than the one in Fallout 2 and perhaps NV.

Still, would be nice to be able to zoom out 10 more feet or so ....

Honestly, I highly recommend going into your console and type fov xx xx (the 'x' is for the number you want for fov). The second set is for third person and is a must when completing the line.

I've played the game for many hours now and I can honestly say that the game feels so much better now that I play it with an fov of 90 (fov 90 90). Some others out there prefer to play in 110, but I find that kinda weird for me.

Here are the steps you should take to fix the fov issues:

1. press the "~" key on your keyboard while in game.

2. type "fov xx xx" (without quotes) and replace the x's with any number of fov you want.

3. Press enter.

4. type "saveini" (again, without quotes. I should also let you know that this will take a while for most users so don't just think it crashed your game. Just sit it out for about 30 secs and you should be good to go).

5. Press enter.

This should ultimately make the fov changing a bit better. I know there are mods that do this and much more, but I felt that this helped me out considering I didn't want a mod for this purpose.

As an avid RPG player and fan of Bethesda games, I think it's kinda annoying and a huge mistake to not have an fov setting in games (including modernized console games). It's one of the touches a player has to making the game feel more personal to them. At least that's my opinion.

As far as an actual 3rd-person mod goes, I think that it will make the game way more enjoyable for me and many others out there. I don't mind playing the game in 1st-person, but I feel less attached to my character in some odd way. I like to see my character kill people and not just their weapon and hands.

Anyway, I hope everything works out and to see a great 3rd-person camera mod in the near future. Happy hunting in the Commonwealth, folks!
