Random Crashes

I will be going along and suddenly and randomly the game will crash...ie there seems to be no apparent reason...when i restart the game, everything goes on as normal...then it will randomly bite the dust again maybe a couple hours later, it always seems to be at a few hour intervals...just wondering if anyone can help me troubleshoot this

 

The only error message i recieve is, the windows one asking if you would like to send a report in

 

i have a windows xp home edition service pack 2, 1gig ram, radeon300 (it's old and the graphics are appauling but oh well) 3.2 ghz dell inspiron

Same problem here and i've seen it on other people's computers. Depending on who you ask, the fault is with oblivion, windows xp, or video driver, or finally the actual pc architecture not transferring data along the bus/buses quickly enough.

 

What it doesn't seem to be is 1.2 patch or mod related. I'll crash after a while with my character then keep crashing. Can be from a resh install or after many mods. The only consistency is my saved games get to about 3 meg, but other people have had other experiences. I hate te fact that there's no error code or way to report bugs to bethseda. You can send a report off to microsoft, but they say they've moved on and won't be updating xp. Ah well.

 

If i wanted to crash, zoning quickly or buying/selling from merchants would be what i would do to cause it. Also turning quickly sometimes does it. As to why, everyone has a different opinion. I'm using a bog standard satellite a100.
