Vorians
How do I prevent Nexus from automatically adding anyone who adds me as their friend, to the Friends page under my own profile, and announcing in the Activity page that I have added this person as my friend? M48A5
In the upper left of any Nexus Forums page, just below "The Nexus Forums" is your avatar and your user name (Vorians). Just to the right of your user name, is a triangle. Left click the triangle and in the drop down menu, choose "My Settings". This will take you to your settings page. There is an option you can choose "Allow me to approve members before they're added as a friend". Left click on the box to the left.
Vorians
Thank you M48A5. I request that this option be added to the Nexus Preferences as well as the Nexus Forums Settings. I almost never visit the forums and would never have expected a setting controlling functionality outside the forums to be found only within the forums. Oubliette
I believe it's the same for both places. Once it's set, it's set. And people can add you from either side, either the mod side or the forum side. Edited November 10, 2015 by Oubliette
Vorians
Yes, but as the setting affects two separate systems, the setting should be available in both systems, not only in one of them.
Oubliette
I don't see the issue. The mod site and the forums aren't really two different systems, which is why your name, avatar, post count, friends list etc etc are shared between them. Vorians
I don't see the issue. The mod site and the forums aren't really two different systems, which is why your name, avatar, post count, friends list etc etc are shared between them. The issue is that the Nexus site and the forums have completely separate front-ends sharing the same back-end. You have to log into each of them separately, and many users like myself will almost exclusively only use one or the other. Features which cross over between the two systems which have user-configurable settings should be configurable in both systems, so that users who only use one system can still find the settings regardless of which system they prefer.
