Emomilol1213
Basically, can I add glow maps to items/armor without waiting for "nifskope" so I can add the texture map to a specific mesh?
Perraine
Not unless the mesh already comes with the glow map flag attribute enabled. I guess you could try and modify the _m mask file (if it has one) and see if you can make certain parts a bit "shinier", which might partially simulate a glow effect, but that would be about it until we get mesh editing tools, such as an update to Nifskope. But that won't happen until the smart guys over there can take apart the files and see what makes them tick, give it time.
throttlekitty
I'm told there's a separate file that holds texture/shader info now. I don't have the game yet, so I can't do any checking for now. (hint hint beg beg)
seekingthesun
Basically, can I add glow maps to items/armor without waiting for "nifskope" so I can add the texture map to a specific mesh? In Fo4edit search for the item "flare". it has a glow effect and you might be able to use that to reverse engineer it by plugging in the glow effect of say a glowing radstag. I tried looking for it but I could not find it, but there's an effect applied to holotags that is a glowing effect too.
KazFoxsen
I'm trying to figure this out too. A while back there was a Nifskope 2 Alpha that could open FO4 nifs though it didn't have all the same capabilities (ex. texture map editor). Some objects use textures as in previous games, but some use "materials." There was some program on Nexus to open and edit those. My problem is a bit different. I'm trying to make a glowing decal, but the ones I'm looking at don't have nifs associated with them. Neither adding a plain white glow map in FO4Edit nor the material file that I added to the decal's texture set works for me. I tried enabling emissions in the material editor, but that did nothing (unless setting it to a strength 2 isn't high enough). I noticed many glowing textures had "7F 00" instead of "00 00" in the Unknown slot in FO4Edit. I tried changing the 0s to that, but it didn't work either. I don't know if that'll help narrow things down.
