DrCube
Short story: Help me find and disable the script/event that causes the powder gangers to ambush you south of primm. Long story: So I have a pretty heavily modded setup. Nothing unusual or experimental but I've got most of the big mods installed: FOOK, Project Nevada, WMX, New Vegas Redesigned 3, Millenia's weapons mods, the big companion mods like Willow, Niner, Deliah, A World of Pain, lots of quest mods like the SomeGuy series, Beyond Boulder Dome, For the Enclave, Boom to the Moon, Rockwell Pursuit, and plenty of compatibility patches. I would rate myself a moderate mod user. I've got NVSE, NVSR, NVAC, and ENBoost all working together, yielding great framerates. I can work with FNVedit and I was able to use that tool to create a merged patch and manually copy records (i.e. resolve conflicts) into that merged patch to correct changes that New Vegas Redesigned made to the Sunny Smiles Companion mod and a problem the Rockwell Pursuit quest mod made to the general NPC greeting that was preventing The Inheritance quest giver from completing his opening dialog. I can also use FNVedit to merge esp files (useful for all of Millenia's guns) to keep my esp count below that 130-ish esp limit New Vegas suffers from. Load order I mostly set manually myself since I disagreed with most of the ordering that LOOT did on my esp list. I really didn't trust LOOT when it failed to put New Vegas Redesigned near the bottom of my load order and NVR's documentation specifically states that NVR needs to come last or near to last. Perhaps that was a mistake but I kicked off my playthrough with this arrangement and I put close to a hundred hours into it. I wandered all over New Vegas, did a ton of quests, and didn't notice any quest bugs or problems with vendors or any telltale signs of major conflicts until... ...I walked south of primm, up that hill where those bloatfly's congregate. If you keep pushing south you'll walk down into a dry lake bed but before you get to that lake bed (if you are vilified by the powder gangers) you will get ambushed by 3 powder gangers. It's a scripted event because camera control gets taken away from you and focuses on one of the gangers who says "You'll pay for what you did to the Powder Gangers" before you get dumped back into combat. I crash when I push up to this area. Sometimes it happens before the event triggers, sometimes after. But this zone/cell is death for my playthough and I'd like some help or ideas for chasing it down. Point 1: I suppose this scripted ambush isn't the problem. There could be something else in that cell that doesn't play nice (i.e. some nasty world space conflict perhaps) but I reloaded an earlier save, when I wasn't vilified by the Powder Gangers, fast traveled to Primm and ran through that cell. No issues. No problems. Point 2: This powder ganger ambush scripted event has always been buggy for me. Even in my early modding days when I was running very few mods, this encounter had problems. Sometimes I would see the gangers in the distance (i.e. already spawned and waiting for me) but they'd simply attack. No dialog, they'd just be hostile. I'd shoot them but when I moved forward to loot their corpses (movement that would take me to the spot where the ambush is supposed to occur), the corpses would vanish and the event would trigger (i.e camera control gets taken away from me, I am told I'll pay for what I've done to the Powder Gangers, and then I get dumped back into combat with 3 new Powder Gangers). The script also seems to assume that you approach from Primm, moving south, because in years past I remember pushing through the ambush point from the Mojave Outpost (i.e. moving north towards Primm). Sometimes I would see the gangers but they wouldn't be hostile and the scripted event wouldn't even fire until I had moved through the ambush point. This encounter has always been buggy for me. I think I need some help. I want to disable that scripted encounter. I want to know if that scripted event is what's causing me to crash. How do I find it in the GECK and how do I disable it? Purr4me
I need to see what's in your plugin.txt file 2nd. ` killall Hit enter and proceed. that means use theconsole when you enter that cell if it allows you to continue and not crash out, it's a mod conflict. if it does not work, it's an object and or world space edit in some mod for that area..possibly the data that's supposed to be there "isn't" which comes from cleaning. This too will crash the game.
