jp2x
I'm organizing a mod for musicians. The player will meet a radio engineer who asks for help restarting a radio station. Then, you fetch some parts and start recruiting musicians, show hosts, DJs, etc. The station broadcasts more content as you recruit. Ideally, there will also be a simple interface to specify what not to play if you don't like something. A ton of musicians have signed on but only a couple modders. It will take me about 6 months if I don't get help, so I'm begging here: be cool and help make an awesome mod. Here are some Reddit links: Original idea thread:https://redd.it/3l3ew6 FO4 Mods post:https://redd.it/3p4glz Let me know if you're interested in any capacity. Thank you! jp2x
A small update:It's December, the creation kit won't be out for at least another couple of months. So, I'm continuing to scout and focus on design and planning.I'm planning to add the radio station to Goodneighbor. I love the idea of a ghoul engineer who used to be a singer and is trying to build a radio station and encourage musicians because of his love of music (no longer having a singing voice). And, Goodneighbor is both ghoul friendly and has a vacant building across the street from the Memory Den that seems ideal for editing.I think it will be possible to make the station a "settlement" like the Diamond City house. Meaning: editable and customizable. The radio station playlist will be controlled by holotape "masters" that the player stores in a machine. As a radio station is kind of a conversation with no choices, songs will play if their tape is in the machine. This makes it very easy to drop new songs into the game world by placing a tape. I still plan to add musicians, but this means not everyone needs to have a character in-game and it will save time for those that really don't care.I really like the idea of adding "Settlement Under Attack" alerts that are linked to the Minutemen radio. I also want to add a "Radstorm Alert" and, if it can be done, an accurate weather report. If weather can't be predicted in the game, I like the idea of a fake weather report that even the host is skeptical of.Ideally, there will also be a radiant quest that points to advertisers. You can talk to merchants and convince them to pay for a radio commercial. The radiant quest would highlight them for you one at a time or you could just keep it in mind when you see a merchant. Placing that merchant's holotape in the playlist would activate a reward (but you could remove it and keep getting the payment - a fake bug). The station secretary holds onto your share of the payments: maybe 10 caps and a food item per commercial per week? It's not much, but there are dozens of merchants in the game.I think I need some resources from Fallout 3 and NV. Musical instruments and decor, including GNR neon. I hadn't planned to say the station is part of the Galaxy network, but the engineer is a former Galaxy engineer and Boston has a number of GNR billboards.Merry Christmas!
