SketchSlayer
Well as I've been playing through at multiple points I've left my power armour at a work station in one of my bases in order to run off and do things without it and during any form of nearby battle someone in the base always decides to jack and damage my power armour then wander off around the base in it making it a bit of a pain to track down and leading to me tending to execute settlers for being idiots (my bases have so many turrets they don't even need to fight). So yeah anyone know how to stop idiot npcs running off in the only usable suit of power armour that even seems to exist? InsanitySektor
Take the fusion core out... problem solved.
SketchSlayer
That would be a huge time sink over all as doing it every time with the poorly optimized menus.... well it'd prove a pain.Don't see that as stopping them jacking the armour anyway when the most important part is the exoskeleton under the plating not the fusion core.Hence a request for a mod to stop npcs having the ability to take power armour they aren't defaulted in. SketchSlayer
And just found out the number of frames are limited -.-We either need a mod to keep npcs the hell away from power armour or at the least a power armour frame buildable in build mode (as it's considered furniture not armour so vendors of it would be useless)Would be best to both have a frame building option and npcs unable to jack power armour but one or the other is essential as if someone dies in power armour that frame is dead for the rest of the damned game.(seems like bethesda really set out to make this game more of a pain than any real fun... so yeah obsidian need to get handed all future fallout titles)
Draagushnahk
Pretty sure NPCs dont get into power armour without a fusion core, they act as though it cant move at all. though come to think of it that would be a cool mod. how the hell are you walking in an unpowered suit that big anyway? GrimReapers1
I just ran into a rather specific instance of this very problem which is what led me here..I'll try to be as terse as possible.. Oh noez gotta help defend <Settlement>. Fast Travel to the rescue..killed several hostiles and got the Mission Complete blurb. Exited power armor in order to effect repairs on such after battle. BUT WAIT....ah fk...there're Surprise Hostiles. whereupon Generic Settler then enters my PA amidst this secondary conflict.. m'kay whatever. We'll sort this out after. Now..threat put down for real so, uh, can I get my PA back, yeah? Nope. So apparently whether or not *I* "steal" is such a big thing factionwise but jacking the PA from the general of the Minutemen who "just happens" to be PERSONALLY involved in the course of helping you defend your settlement(s) and then refusing (being unable) to give it back? I call BS Edited March 27, 2017 by GrimReapers1
caleb68
if the settler is stuck in the power armor - assign them a job that requires them to sit, i.e. the vaulttec security desk. this will make them exit the power armor, least thats worked for me in those cases. Far as the npc's not getting into the power armor if there are no fusion cores - the exception to this rule applies: Some Unique NPC's will use power armor with or without cores. - Cait has jumped into power armor during a attack that had no core and she had no fusion cores on her. Merchant NPC's 'magically' get a power core when being attacked and jump into them (i've emptied them of all cores just before a battle and bloop they have cores again) If there is a container anywhere in the settlement that isn't locked that contains power cores - the settlers seem to automatically know where the container is that has power cores and will grab one and jump into the suit during a attack, have had this happen multiple times as well.Isn't there a script that blocks npc interaction with objects? or perhaps its a keyword... could swear there was a simple method to do that... one could make a specific frame that blocks them from activating, and make it so the player can buy that one for their own suits, leaving the default frames alone. Edit in: My Corpse cleaner mod lets you scrap dead bodies in power armor to get the power armor suit, likewise it has a emersion holotape that you can craft and if you have that on your person, depending on the game difficulty you have a higher chance of getting power armor scrap pieces from them, which once you collect enough you can craft a power armor suit. Thought it was silly you could kill all these guys but never attempt to recover the suit they were wearing after the battle. pra
That reminds me of some idea I had a long time ago: structure objects which are not navmeshed on purpose, so that you could build "no-go zones" for NPCs. But, that depends how they actually behave if you put a power armor in an unreachable location. Will they just ignore it, or will they still try to run to it? mkr1977
When it first happened to me I remember getting into a huge fight with a newly power-armored Trashcan Carla. Got out of my PA, and Preston starts hectoring me about a settlement that is in trouble. Then I turn around and see Trashcan Carla stealing my PA. damanding
This mod will automatically remove power cores from power armor and return them to your inventory: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14773/? Storing your power armor in a space the NPC's normally can't get to isn't going to work, they have the ability to basically warp to something they want to get to badly enough. The ONLY known solution for this is to not store power cores in your power armor.
