Gremio
New to the forums, and this thread looked oh so helpful- figured it'd be a good place to ask my little questions ;) I've got about 30 custom faces scattered throughout save files, and I was wondering if there was any way for me to distribute them across npc's(without losing scripts ect, obviously). I have WyreBash, and the Con set- but honestly don't have any real experience with either(aside from using bash to import faces to savegames), so kid gloves please. Is this even possible without thousands of micro-changes through TESCS and Bash? If there was a way for me to create a standalone mod that alters npc's like that.. I'd be willing to go learn TESCS lol. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Vagrant0
Essentially, no. You'd still pretty much have to do each NPC individually, one modifier at a time. i think one of the savegame utilities allows you to extract face data, but don't think this has any use other than putting it into other saved games. There is also another component. All, or atleast most the standard NPCs that came with oblivion have a specific face texture, this means that while you can change the skintone on the body, the face will remain a constant shade. You can get around it by extracting the face textures from the .bsa archives, and replacing the ones pertaining to who you want to edit (based on ID number) with a blank .dds, but this becomes complicated if you plan on doing several. Then there are conflicts if you edit the same NPC as some other mod. So yeah, you're pretty much stuck with the ugly faces unless you feel like doing a very large amount of work. Thanks, I don't think I have the patience to pull that off- was just hoping that there was a way I could harmlessly use wyrebash or something to swap out faces like I do with the player-character. Sigh, no beautiful oblivion I guess. Too bad though, always wanted to turn the game into a lineage2 clone o_O
DeusXMachina
Well, I know there's a way to give NPCs custom faces, I have often seen it on companion mods though I've never done it on myself. I think you can find a tutorial on CanadianIce's board (have to google it, no access for me there from this comp :) )
