doomknightofchaos
Actually no, Fallout 4 was based off of Skyrim. The original story, from Pete Hines was that they were going to port Skyrim to Xbox One and PS4, and instead decided to use that to create Fallout 4. So actually, Fallout 4 is more like Skyrim, than it is like Fallout 3. However, your answer doesn't help at all. Yes I'm well aware that it is possible and it works. However, the HOW hasn't been answered. How do you setup TESVEdit, to edit Fallout 4 files? A procedure or steps to make TESVEdit to work on Fallout 4 would be appreciated. If it is like Fallout 3, then how would I set it up to mod Fallout 3 then? Also what is this ID# you referred to, and how would one find it? nonoodles
The CSharp Patcher by unforbidable is working well for a handful of Form types. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16/ It will generate a plugin from user made xml rules. An example. <rules> <rule> <name>Change Base Kill Cam Chance</name> <from>GMST</from> <where>Source.EditorId == "fKillCamBaseOdds"</where> <update> Target.Value = 5; </update> </rule> </rules> Interesting! Now if only I were home and had time to play the game...well, guess I'll have to sit this one out until December! :P

doomknightofchaos
Four things: 1) Thank you for explaining things better. 2) You originally said TESVEdit, not FO3Edit. It would have been simpler if you had said you needed FO3Edit, rather than TESVEdit 3) Yes, I'm well aware that not everything that comes out of Pete Hines mouth should be trusted. Afterall, he did promise a new engine, 64bit, dynamic economy and dynamic civil war for Skyrim, and none of those things were in Skyrim. 4) Actually, Skyrim was built upon Fallout 3's foundation. If you take a look at it, it even has all the code for VATS, even though VATS isn't used directly in Skyrim... only for Killcams. So, if you want to ignore the fact that Fallout 4 is built on the same foundation as Skyrim, that's your thing, but the fact is, it is built upon skyrim's foundation. Purr4me
TESVEdit and Fo3edit are all and one the same program...3.1.2 is renamed by the user from TESVEdit to fo3edit.Per instructions VIA the authors. TESVEdit will not load this games code at all. FNVEdit will not load this games code at all ,Fo3Edit does load this games code.your foundation is the version controls built into the Engines and 1 main master-file. I seen enough to know a great deal more than what you believe. you need help, I'll help...you need anything else other than explicable help I will not. I told you, no arguments. I know more than you would want to know. have fun. Kitty.
jet4571
FO4 Is built off of Skyrim, if you don't believe that then take a look inside the .esm and count the instances of Skyrim related entries, such as shouts, and all magic schools. Last time I checked FO3 didn't have magic dual casting, summoned creature, alchemy, shield, shield bash, and quite a few other game settings that's present in Fallout4.esm and Skyrim.esm. Then the armor setup is Skyrim, Has Armor Addon, and even mentions the same body slots from Skyrim, Shield, Circlet, Tail. They wont add Skyrim stuff to FO3 or FO4 but they would leave such settings if they think they could use them. They couldn't easily build it off of FO3 and it wouldn't make financial sense to do so, they made many improvements to the engine for Skyrim, and many more since Skyrim. If they can recycle they will and dumping all those improvements just to remake them? That would be stupid. FNV version was 1.34 Skyrim shows as .94 in FO3Edit, version numbers are only valid for the one program and that number goes with the exe and not a resource. *Edit,FNVEdit and TESVEdit both open Fallout4.esm. All three are the same program with one change, that change is what game to load. All three error out when loading it because the records are incompatible. doomknightofchaos
As you said, no opinions, just facts. Fact is Skyrim was built on Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 was built on Skyrim. If you don't wish to believe that then that is YOUR opinion, but the fact is it is. So if TesVEdit throws an error, does that mean that it can't make changes to Fallout 4, or that it introduces errors into any Fallout 4 .esp?
