Savegame compatibility between diffrent installations?

I hope this is the right subforum to post my question, but I thought people who are interested in mod troubleshooting sound like the people who could help me figure this out, although technically it not about a real mod.

I uploaded a Savegame for a new Quickstart, skipping the vault to the recreation point, thought it could be useful to some people. There are a lot of downloads and no complaints, but one guy said his 'pipboy' is darker with my save and I tried it out and indeed it appears this way even for me now, although it went back to normal after I plugged in to the console to open the exit door of vault 111. So my question is are there any known issues with compatibility between different installations?

And I noticed another thing, I renamed the file from the original bethesda naming scheme to a simpler name, I saw some people on here doing the same thing, loaded it up and played from it only to find out that from this point on all the saves done with this character could not be found under that characters name anymore when you press T in the loading screen to change to another character I had to select to 'Show All Saves' to find it. So is this a known issue that I was not aware off? What is best practice in sharing savefiles in general?

edit: I found out what was causing the save not to show up, after the namechange the new saves showed up as Quicksave0_00000000 for example, adding the original number brought them back into the the character loading screen.
