Cover system in Third Person

Everybody's system is a little different and you may need to tweak the sprint-to-cover sensitivity to best suit your system. Sounds like it's currently too sensitive for you and brings you into cover even when you don't want to. There are presets in the Config, but sensitivity can be further tweaked to values that aren't in the presets with the console command:

cqf cover setsensitivity <desired value here>

Except it already isn't sensitive enough to notice me sprinting into a wall for over a second. But upon review, what's happening is that it's entering cover because I'm meeting a small ledge or object that I can normally run over or knock out of the way. My character is trying to hide behind the curb and litter.

 

For leaving cover, the key point is to give a single quick tap to the back button. You leave cover when the back button is released. This is an intentional decision - I could have set it to leave when you started pressing the button, but then you would lose the ability to move backwards in cover.

I did that. It's probably suffering from the same issue that's making the manual button for leaving cover not respond most of the time.

 

For keybinds, yes - will need the script extender for that.

I'll probably have to wait for that, then.

 

I've also added a section to the FAQs that might be helpful for mobility during cover and moving from cover-to-cover!

 

As a benchmark, the videos I've linked to in the mod description accurately portray what the typical user should experience.

Well, it sure isn't like that for me. Also, what about my character leaving the camera behind? What's up with that? When they lean out of cover, sometimes the camera doesn't move with them.
