Underwear for nude characters

A mod that does this:

  • makes the vanilla underwear an equipable statless item that takes its own slot and isn't visible unless the character has no body armor on;
  • equips all NPCs of a playable race (both unique NPCs like Balgruuf and generated NPCs like bandits) with underwear

I have no idea why isn't there a mod like that already, Skyrim is 4 years old.

It says that this mod is intended for "experienced" to "advanced" mod users ONLY and that a working knowledge of how and why clothing and body mods work is REQUIRED and there is a change that something goes horribly wrong, but you did link to a mod that fits the things I said, though I wont be able to use it...

I downloaded the mod and read the instructions, and it doesn't really need terribly advanced knowledge of modding. It's really just a matter of dragging and dropping the right files into the corresponding folders. The components to make the mod work is there, and some basic understanding of clothing/body mods work is good practice if you plan on using mods for a long time. And if you're looking for a mod that deals with nude and underwear versions then it's something you'll have to do anyway.

That knowledge of clothing, armour and body mods are these:

- When you equip a body-slot gear in your game you're swapping out your nude/underclothed body for another body that has the clothing or armour attached to it. The body slot is anything below the base of the neck, down to your character's wrists where it meets the hand mesh, and to a bit above the ankles where it meets the feet mesh.

- When you install a body replacer, you're just overriding the vanilla body mesh with the new one. Body replacers are usually presented in loose file form (after they've been extracted by your mod manager) that mimics the folder path inside BSA files, which is where the games pulls its meshes and textures from as it materializes in the game. Having meshes and textures as loose files in your Skyrim folder makes itself show up in the game instead of the ones in the BSA files, but only if they're named the same and nestled in the folders the same way.

If you use a mod manager like NMM, you will see that the things that implement the changes that a mod makes in your game are .esp or .esm files. .Esp files usually go in the Skyrim > Data folder. Unzipping the Undies Underneath .7z file, you will see the 00 Core folder, which has the things that will make the mod work. It's all a matter of dragging and dropping the files into your Data folder. The .nif files are the ones you need to replace with the .nif files from any body replacer mod of your choosing.

If you need to roll back the changes, just remove the files that came with the mod (remember: not the folders themselves but the files inside the folders provided). Look up how other people manually install armor mods and body replacers inside they're game.
