Nimos
As so many others here I guess, I think Fallout 4 is an awesome game in it self, but could be improved. Since I like Fallout 4 to feel a bit more of a survival game to really enhance the experience. I have come up with a list of things I think would improve the game for the better, especially for those people that shares this view. But also just things that seems weird and could be improved in my opinion. First of all im not a modder, so whether some of these things are possible or not, I don't know. Stealth remakeNow stealth is fun, but it can also be to good, ridiculous and just plain stupid in its current state in my opinion. So changes to this, I think would make sense. Changes:- No matter how stealthy you are, if you have your pipboy light on, there should be zero chance of being hidden. Even the best spy or infiltrator wont be able to hide all lid up. - My impression of the power armor is that its made for one thing and one thing only. Which is to get into heavy combat situations and clean up. Its not the first choice of an infiltrator trying to sneak pass guards etc. Wearing a huge metal armor and expect to be able to sneak pass them, shouldn't be possible, I don't care how bad of a guard you are. If you can't see a huge, loud chunk of metal lurking around in the shadows there is something wrong. So stealth in power armor should also be heavily reduced. Enemy AIAI of enemies is important and I bet im not the only one to experience these things, when the AI act completely out of touch with whats going on. You can blow the head of one guard standing next to his friend and stealth and move a bit away. And the guard will respond after awhile with "im hearing noises" or "im loosing my mind". No, you friends head got blown off, you really think it was just some random accident? Changes:- Enemies should stay on high alert if they see or react to any of there mates getting killed or attacked. Until the player leaves the area or maybe let them be on alert for X amount of in game hours. If possible they should take cover, start patrolling, send out dogs etc. Vertibird These are a really nice addition and its great that you can call one of them to come pick you up. However its a helicopter thingy which must be at least to some point advanced. So why can't you fly anywhere you want? Changes:- Click anywhere on the map and the pilot will fly you there, even If you have not explored the area. If you can't make it go where you want why use it at all for travelling? since you already ran to the location it makes little sense to run all the back to ask for a lift. Besides that fast travel ruins the use of the Vertibird as transportation. So this would give the Vertibird something that none of the other options can offer. Food/Drink/SleepThis have been done for, at least Skyrim so im pretty sure it will be there for Fallout 4 as well. However I personally don't think this plays an important enough role in general. Trying to survive requires Food, Water or other liquid and sleep to keep you alive. Changes:Food - 3 or more stages could keep track of this. Hungry - Just an indication that you need to eat soon. Very hungry - Will reduce you health regeneration by 50% any sprinting will cost an additional 25% AP. Starving - Will reduce your health regeneration by 75%, sprinting will cost an addition 50% AP and you will receive 25% more radiation due to the poor state your in. Water - 3 or more stages, Thirsty - Indication that you need a drink soon. Very thirsty - Reduce AP regeneration by 50%, sprinting will cost an additional 25% AP. Dehydrated - Reduce AP regeneration by 75% sprinting will cost an additional 50% more AP. Sleep - 3 or more stages, Tired - Indication that you need sleep. Very tired - Will make your eyes close once in a while, reduce accuracy by 25% increase cost of sprinting by 25% AP. Make the distance area look a bit blurry. Collapsing - Will make your eyes close more frequently. Blur the distance area even more. Reduce accuracy by 50% and make sprinting cost an additional 50% AP. Since this would have course change the game a bit, portable sleeping bags and cooking equipment would be useful as well. MedicalStimpacks are great, but running around almost with a permanent needle stuck in the thigh, seems a bit over the edge. Who knows whats in those things, since they can heal crippled body parts? Changes:Having stimpacks on the list of drugs just as the others ones, could improve the game I think, it seems a bit to easy just to slam one of these into the leg and problem solved. If these would be on the addiction list, it could make you think twice before spamming the key. Crippled body parts should only be possible to be fixed by a doctor or if a surgeon kit could be made. Giving your self an injection shouldn't solve it. VehiclesIt appears, that despite advanced robots, Synths and flying machines. None have been able to make a car or motorcycle work? Changes:If possible it would be great if cars or motorcycles could be made driveable or at least motorcycles. Hold up/SurrenderThe wasteland is a violent place with little room for mercy. However it could be fun and a great addition if not every encounter need to end with some ones body parts all over the ground. Changes:The ability to approach a person with your gun pointed at them telling them to hand over there stuff. Maybe make it so you could tell them to go somewhere within the area like you can with settlers and tell them to get on the ground. And an animation of them surrendering. You will then be able to grab there stuff and leave them. Once you are a out of range they will return to what they were doing. So it would be an extension of the pacifying perk I guess. Like you can rob others they can rob you as well, so if you are in a situation ammo is running out, no more stimpacks. You can agree to surrender. Showing an animation of you surrendering maybe throwing your active weapon on the ground. And whatever you were fighting would approach you and rob you and if you are lucky they wont kill you in the process. After you have surrendered you shouldn't be able to equip gear until the surrender event is over, so it can't be exploited. Once the surrender event is over you are free to go and the enemies will walk away with your gear. Which you of course can come back after if you want another try. StoresGuess im not the first one to wonder about this and actually how I thought stores you build in your settlements worked. That these were places where you could put items you found, crafted etc for sale. Instead you build a shop only to be ripped off by it. You paid for it? Changes:The ability to transfer items to the person running the shop and they will try to sell it for you, maybe taking a cut as well. The higher the rank of shop you make the greater chance of the items being sold. Items sold at the correct shop could give a 10 % bonus when those items are sold. This of course would need to be balanced so prizes shouldn't be higher than if you sold them manually to a vendor. SettlementsIts a nice addition that you can rebuild settlements. But why should newly created carpets look like they were made using a chainsaw? Just because its after a nuclear war, doesn't mean that things can't be created like it weren't. Changes:More choices of items to be built, there are objects in the game such as painting buckets etc. That could be part of the crafting system. No reason why a non dirty chair shouldn't be possible to make. Attacks on settlementsThis is a nice addition to the game, but these seems way to weak. Throw in some heavy machineguns and problem is solved. Im current level 31 or something. And have yet to see any attacks being remotely exciting, a small group of poorly equipped raiders attacking a fortress of several heavy machineguns and 19 people only to get completely stumped. Changes:When these attackers are spawned, maybe a new enemy type which are much stronger, so you have to really protect your settlements if you want to keep them. If possible maybe even make it so they take over the settlement and those people in it would have to be rescued. And the settlement would also have to be taken back. So all the protection that you set up is now in the hands of the raiders or whatever. And depending on the size of the settlement you would loose a certain amount of the stuff you have gathered. HotkeysI like companions, the more the better, but not being able to hotkey commands is a pain. Changes:The ability to set up hotkeys for go stay, the fetch commands etc. And maybe even extend this so you could order your companion to gather stuff in the area, recon an area etc. Anyway just my thoughts on what could make the game better. And again not a modder so some of these things might not even be possible. But hopefully some of you bright people picks up on some of these ideas and it could be added. :D Edited November 17, 2015 by Nimos
