jpbeat
So we all know how the dungeon progression works in skyrim. start with caves and bandit camps, move up to tombs, then to dwarven ruins. while each of these catagories has a wide variety of difficulties, I feel like there should be one more tier. dwarven automatons can only get so difficult, and the player can level far past most base dungeon enemies in the game. I would like to have a set of late-game dungeons spread throughout skyrim with very difficult enemies and great loot. I'm thinking the best option for this would be the realms of the daedra. Fighting your way through hordes of dremora in oblivion was great, but the main reason they aren't in skyrim is that there's a magical barrier between nirn and oblivion that keeps the daedra from freely opening portals, and us from traveling there. the daedra you see in the game are mere projections of daedra from other realms. This barrier is held by the Dragonfires in Cyrodiil, the only way that they can go out is if the emperor is dead, or some other incredibly powerful force is used to open the portals from nirn. I'm thinking that the best way to make this lore-friendly is to make it so no portals to these dungeons appear until one of several conditions is met. the conditions im thinking of are as follows: (spoilers) 1. the player becomes the archmage at the college of winterhold and uses a special ritual at the atronach forge to allow them to access these portals.2. the player kills the emperor near the end of the dark brotherhood questline.3. the player becomes a nightingale and does a short quest to borrow the skeleton key and empower it so that it can open these portals. until one of these quests are completed, the spots where the portals would be would just have the ripple effect like at the top of the throat of the world, afterwards they would open when the player came close. while this mod would take some time I don't see it as being unrealistic. let me know what you guys think!
