Unique, randomised armour.

Something that really irked me about vanilla skyrim is how armour and weapons are exactly the same, across all boards. You could find a sword in one barrow, and another twenty with the exact same stats and appearance.

I think that needs to change.

Remember the first steel sword you ever looted? The one you gave to your follower, the one they died wielding in your defence? Well, you can't differentiate it unless you enchant it/rename it, and I don't think that's enough.

I would like to see a mod that adds scratches, dents, chips, dyes, unique colourings, and other misc effects to weapons and armour, fully randomised, that appear when you loot the weapon/armour. This means you can tell which weapon is which, you can get attached, you can make the weapon your own.

I'm not too fussed about changes to stats or anything, I just want something that makes armours and weapons beautifully unique, even if they are the same.

I really like this idea, but I'm afraid it's likely too complicated for skyrim's engine. you would have to model all of the weapon variants yourself and add them to the leveled lists one by one. Something that plays to this effect somewhat is in ESO, each weapon has many different models for each racial style, and there are multiple racial styles that look very diverse. you can also color, improve, and enchant the weapons too. for example, my mage happened along a light steel chest piece that had an eagle on the chest. i colored the trim blue and have been wearing it ever since. i've never seen another player with one that looks like it. I agree how it's great to make a weapon feel like yours, but im not sure that skyrim is capable of something to this magnitude. great idea though!

I think Fallout 4 fixed this quite well, among other things. With the armor overlay (chest, left arm, right arm, left leg and right leg) there are many possible combinations now. And both the guns and the melee weapons are customizable, though the latters don't have many options.

Sadly all armors and weapons in Skyrim would have to be completely redesigned for this system.

For example the banded armor: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/elderscrolls/images/6/6d/IronArmorSkyrim.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20111129104908

Could be an iron armor with the pauldrons and the chest piece equipped. There could be so many possibilities.

There was once a mod that was trying to remove all pauldrons, then making them equippable. But the amount of work is too much.
