Brief Idea - New Radio

Ok, so... less so much a "I would like someone to make this mod" and more of a "I have an idea for a mod, and I would like some help with making it" thread.

 

I know people don't like reading a whole buncha crap, so I'll skip to the TL;DNR version.

 

I want to make a radio station in Fallout 4. I'm not sure on how easy it is to do one, and I admit, I'm not that very good at programming. Or mod making. Or using G.E.C.K.

 

What I AM good at, though, is script/story writing, and good at talking. Been told all my life, even by complete strangers, I should have a job doing sports announcing or radio DJ, or hell, even a voice actor or audiobook narrator.

 

So, I want to try it. More specifically, I want to try pretending to be a radio DJ in the Commonwealth, a former wasteland wanderer and all-around good guy with a few funny stories to tell, and a list of songs to share with the people of the Commonwealth.

 

There may or may not also be a quest associated with this mod. I have a few ideas, but nothing solid from beginning to end. I also have Audacity (complete with MP3 conversion capabilities) and a headset with a decent microphone.

 

So, anyone interested? Anyone got any suggestions? Or have I missed something in that this is something that is still very-far from being possible with current modding for this game?

I imagine you'd want songs on the station. If you want I'm willing to learn some songs and sing them for you and your radio station :) ! I might be able to get a group of mine together and do acapella songs. Otherwise, if you're already voice acting the main part then there's not much else I can do.

 

What did you have in mind as the function of this radio station? Some radio stations tell stories, as you already mentioned, like the Silver Shroud station. Others play music, lie the Diamond City Radio station. Then there's Distress ones but I doubt this would be one for too long besides the beginning to get the player to find this station similar to Silver Shroud I believe, haven't started nor finished this station yet. Only different station I can think of is like Radio Freedom which gives out information. Haven't gotten too far into Fallout 4 to know if there are any other kinds of radios but that's what I know so far.

I was thinking more of a music/story combination radio station, playing music one moment, and with a few bits where the DJ would probably tell some story or a bit of news, and even a few PSAs, kind of like Three Dog and Travis. I was mostly thinking of playing a random motley assortment of 40s and 50s songs (with a big focus on 50s), including "Banana Boat Song" (AKA "Day-O"), a couple of songs from Fallout 3 and New Vegas which haven't made it into Fallout 4 (including the Connelrad mod), and some others.

 

But tell me more about this acapella group. Do y'all have any samples I could listen to? Might be neat to have some custom-made songs for the station.
