What happened to the Realistic Bullet Cracks Mod?

In general I find that mods with content under copyright only get taken down if someone with an actual relation to the mods copyright complains that its there. I guess some stuff might fall under fair-use, being for free and mostly parody.

If a mod with such content is still up its because nobody has complained about it.

Copyright for video game mods is a joke.

Unfortunately the copyright lawyers don't see it that way. For them it is how they make a very good living. We;; over 90% of the people they sue settle out of court for a lot less than they first ask. Why would they settle? Because the lawyer they tried to hire to defends them told them its much cheaper to pay a settlement than go to court where they will lose. But as part of the settlement deal you are not allowed to tell anyone. That makes it easier for them to rip off the next sucker they catch violating copyright.

It's sad because Red Sox fans would love to mod the logo into the game as a tribute to the team but bloodsucking lawyers kill the joy in it.

A missed opportunity of free advertising doesn't seem to negate that.

When you're dealing with a brand as famous as that you're more using them to promote yourself than you are promoting them.

That red sox thing was a knee jerk reaction by some lawyer or company flunky that has no clue. But now that they have drawn that line, they will not back down claiming it is 'a matter of principle.'

Instead they will be parodied as Rad Sox or Red Schlocks. They should have accepted the original as a form of fair use and left it alone.
