Incredibly Basic Question

Hi guys! I've JUST NOW gotten into the world of Oblivion mods (it was nice under my vanilla rock).

I have a very simple question. I've got the game, updated it, have the mod manager and the latest obse release. I went and downloaded less than 30 mods; most of which were part of the "must have" lists. I used some common sense when installing certain ones (not installing two weather mods, etc etc). My computer handles oblivion pretty well - it was on nearly max settings for vanilla oblivion, I toned it down for all the mods.

However

Is it normal for oblivion to be incredibly buggy and have numerous conflicts between the mods regardless of all that? How can I rectify these problems? The mods I downloaded were all ones that I'd would LIKE to use together (some estate, neat towns, big quest mods, some mob changes, etc), so is there any way I can use all these together (without crashing when entering a room sometimes, etc)?

Thanks!

How do you know of these conflicts? Did you use the conflict detector utility or did you see something weird in game? Because a conflict mentioned by the utility often aren't real conflicts. And besides a mod conflict, crashes could also be the fault of a buggy mod.

Unless you have two mods changing the same things (Like the levelling overhaul mods from Oscuro and Francesco do) there shouldn't be too many bugs/conflicts.

Maybe we can figure out whats wrong if you post a list of the mods you are using?

Oh, I see! Well, first it was a few crashes here and there, so I checked out the conflict utility. Didn't know they weren't real conflicts! Thanks for letting me know! When I get home I'll make a list of the mods I'm using. I avoided the overhaul mods, but I still have quite a few content-adding mods.

Here's the list of mods I am using -- I'm wondering if the load order is causing some problems... I'm not entirely sure if that's the correct order to put it in. If anyone has any corrections, I'd love to hear them! Thanks!

I'm not really sure what this mod does, but creature continum stands out as suspect. I would try disabling that, personally, untill you find out more. See if that stops the crashes.

Might also try browsing the readme files again, and see if you can spot anything that makes big changes, or changes that are more drastic, like creatures, areas, etc.

Sometimes, when people want advice, it's because they already know the answer, but don't like it. So, I'm probably stating the obvious - I know you want to run all the mods, but if you can disable 1 or more mods, and see if it still crashes, then you will have narrowed down the list, and you can much more easily determine what mod (or mods) are keeping you from enjoying the game.

Looking at the list again, you may want to disable Bulky Orcs and Nords. I'm pretty sure those are German or Italian mods. This may not be compatible.

I could be wrong, but you might disable them as well - for now.

Good luck.
