Fire Rate Measurments in F4

Hello everyone. Since I first played F4 I was wondering what does the "Fire Rate" characteristic mean. I've done some testing with the Minigun today, and here's what I've learned.

With the high-speed barrel the 500 rounds are spent in about 16 seconds, which gives us 31-32 rounds per second (further RPS); the Fire Rate (FR) with this barrel equals 313.

Standart barrel: 500 rounds in 18 s = 27 RPS; 272 FR.

Tri barrel: 500/28=17-18 RPS; 177 FR.

Assault rifle with automatic receiver: 30/ 2.9=10.3 RPS; 113 FR.

I was using a stopwatch in my cellphone, so the timing is not very precise. Though I can assume that the in-game Fire Rate equals 10x rounds per second. Hope this helps someone.

Interesting. I don't understand why they don't just give a damage per second rating to all weapons....or have I missed that? It would really help since with all the different mod combinations, something as seemingly obvious as rate of fire doesn't tell the whole story.

A good example is the laser gatling gun. If you switch from the standard barrel to the charging barrel or whatever it's called, the rate of fire drops dramatically, but the damage per shot also goes up dramatically. The difference though is absolutely nuts, and that gun goes from being a 2 and sometimes 3 VATS attack to kill weapon to killing almost everything in 1 VATS attack, and definitely everything (at least that I've encountered so far) within 2 attacks, and I don't even have all the heavy gun perks yet. It's also a nail driver and has the best VATS range and accuracy of any automatic gun I've used yet. I was very surprised, since heavy/big guns are usually pretty inaccurate and sloppy in these games, but it has become my go-to weapon if I'm not sniping. The only drawback is how long it takes to spin the barrels up and fire from the hip, but it's unstoppable in VATS.
