Settlers & The IsProtected flag

Base defense and equipping settlers has no point right now because they are immortal to other NPCs and will eventually kill all attackers by wearing them down zombie-style, even with their stock s*** equipment. To be clear, I can kill a settler if I shoot them, but if a supermutant shoots them they just go prone for 20 or so seconds and then get back up and fight again. But I can kill them while they are prone. So I thought they were set essential, but I think the flag is actually "protected"? Not sure, but would like to fix it.

Looks like settlers flag might be "protected" instead of essential, if this description from the skyrim wiki is accturate.

After futzing around with help in the console, it looks like the flag is: "IsProtected" no idea how to change it though. Says its a script funtion though, and not a console command.

I still dont know how to change it. Can anyone give a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Been bothered by the too

Looking at the skyrim version, there is no console command for it, which means we'll have to wait until mod tools come out.

yeah, after playing more, maybe setting them to die right away is a bad idea - some of the attacks can be pretty nasty. I think in Skyrim there was a bleed state where you had 30 seconds to heal them before they die. Might be a better option. But I think yiou are right - may have to wait for better modding tools.
