Vagrant0
Already disabled all mods (had no mods that adjusted any dialogues) other than Oblivion.esm and DLCshiveringisles.esp and started a new game, however all SI related greetings and generic dialogue seem to be broken without any reason behind it. neither the .esm or the .esp have been edited in any way. Has anyone experienced anything similar, and can think of a way to fix it? They were working before, even with all the mods enabled, but now they're not. I would prefer to know the cause before backing up eveything, then reinstalling everything. The only thing I could think of would be a failed beta patch update, but in that case this should be a common occurance.
karkarinus
I'm not much of a technical wizard, and they weren't the same as yours but I recently had problems after updating to v1.2. A simple reinstall from the original disc cleared it up without having to backup files, and when I installed SI, everything went smoothly. Maybe you could uninstall OB, reinstall, and update by installing SI rather than using the individual patch. It worked for me. The only prob I have had with SI dialogue-wise was the apparently appalling lipsync. I don't know if this was a bug or merely a BethSoft rush-job

Tried it before, usually end up with a few broken models and textures as well as buggy menus if I don't clean out my data folder every time and install everything fresh. As I am having to clean out my data folder every time, I occasionally miss a mod or two which causes any of my saved games to become invalid. As I am personally sick of doing the kvatch, Barius and mages guild quests every time something vulks up I would prefer to only do it once I know that whatever is causing the problem won't come back. Since I don't know what is causing the problem, and have no obvious ways to fix it, I'm at abit of a loss as to deciding if it's even worh fixing until all this 1.2 nonesense is overwith. Vagrant0
Bleh, found the problem, apparently if you don't use the portal to travel between SI and Tamriel, the dialogues get screwed up for some reason. Guess it should be noted by anyone who wants to make their own little portals between the two sometime in the future. While it would have been nice if someone had mentioned it before I went through the hassle of reinstalling, atleast now I'm able to update to the beta and not have the formID issues. gruler
Hi Moderator I think it would be helpful to have this topic pinned. A few other people have posted similar problems and some are not getting an answer. The dialogue problem affects NPCs in Cyrodil too so players will not be able to get quests or complete quests. Gamers must have used powers from other mods to travel between SI and Cyrodil. The solution is simple- use the portal to travel to SI and back, and the dialogue problem goes away.
