Aisynia
I have searched high and low and I haven't found any mods like this. Is it possible to make a tiny shield, perhaps not as high on the armor rating of course but more useful than not having one? I have a stealthy evil assassin character. She wears all black and she uses the Umbra and other black/dark weapons for strikes from behind. Inevitably there will be melee combat but carrying around some massive freaking shield really doesn't .. look right. I have this vision of just a small metallic, black shield that would be good for an assassin type. Has anyone done this? If not, would someone be capable? A quick google image search has netted me some images of bucklers for reference.http://www.scholasaintgeorge.org/bayarea/e...mp;+Buckler.jpghttp://www.armourarchive.org/patterns/buck...uckler_back.jpghttp://www.valleymartialarts.com/images/ah2263.jpg Thank you for reading! Vagrant0
If I ever get my game working again, I may do a few small shields that "look" like bucklers. I think the main problem that comes up when you aren't using a large shield is how it handles the blocking animation, and how the game handles the physics. With the animation, anything set as a shield would be bound to the wrist, not the hand. With the physics, I'm unsure how the game controls a blocked attack from an unblocked attack, be it the specific dimentions of the shield mesh, or some preset angle to where the player is viewing. This becomes an issue when you considder arrows and such falling within that angle, but not where there is an actual shield mesh, in one case they would be stopped by air, in the other, you'd have to be a bit more percise with how you're looking in order to block attacks. Aisynia
Thanks for the reply :) Yes, I assumed it would be bound to the wrist, another game I played had bucklers which were wrist mounted. As for the dimensions, from an observer's point of view I don't think the actual size of the shield has anything to do with blocking, since I can deflect arrows with a dagger :P
ninja_lord666
I think bucklers would be a great idea. In Baldur's Gate, bucklers were special shields that could be equipted by those who normally can't, like a thief. It's useful as thieves typically don't use two handed weapons, save a bow; so, if your character used a sling instead, it would be a wasted slot. Bucklers don't add much defense, but to a thief, you need all the defense you can get. That reminds me. I'm pretty sure this would be impossible, but it would be cool if someone could make a sling. Onycha
I'm afraid I can't make anything like that (I have the modding skills similar to that of a pot of jam) but I did run across this mod: Orcasm's Shadowed Buckler 2.0 It's not perfect, but it certainly comes close.
