SI quest crash-Baiting the Trap

Recommended Posts

After wandering the Isles for a while i decided to get on with the main quest. I talked the Sheogorath, went to Xedilian, and reactivated the big crystal thingie. After using the teleporting pad and talking to the NPC the quest starts (Baiting the Trap). Almost instantly the game will crash to the desktop...

Has this happened to anyone else? Its extremly frustrating. >:(

I was thinking it might be a problem with the script that starts the quest, but i dont know enough about scripting to really know what i'm looking at...

any help would be appreciated.

Thanx

What mods do you have installed?

I used to have a lot of mods running, but lately i've been trying to weed out most of them. The ones I have left are: black templar weapons, bound arrows with bow, eshmes bodies v2, FormID reference bug fix (for SI), KT_Custom Race fix, loading screen quotes, RenGuard Overhaul, Natural Vegetation, Nat. Water, and Nat. Weather, Rise of a Samurai, Septim Mansion, and za_bank mod. I also have a couple mods running that I made myself:Nexus and another one that is a WIP.

The most recent one I added was the guard overhaul, i think, and I haven't installed any since i got SI.

Try disabling anything that isn't currently and directly linked to the Player (like custom race, custom class, major stuff. Equipment isn't). and see if you can load both a game a few steps before that point, and see if you can load a game at that point. If you can't... Turn them all off, make a new game, tgm, showbirthsignmenu, showclassmenu, cheat yourself to a capable level/skill range, cow tamriel 0,0, fast travel to bravil, swim to island, rush through the quests, make a save before you talk to him. Then try talking to him without any mods active, if that works, try it with a few mods active, if that works, try it with a few more, and so on until you crash. Then from the 3 or 4 mods that you had just activated you might be able to figure out what the problem is.
