zenno
Okay well i started a new char, traditionally I played stealthy bow chars with light armor, but this time i went for heavy armor and built myself as a warrior with sneak and bow. When I get in to fights, i usually try to start out meleeing, but if theres 2 or more mobs i usually get beat up pretty bad, and end up switching to bow and running/shooting till dead. Do I just suck or am i missing something? or am i just undergeared? this chars only about lvl 5, but has pretty decent heavy armor, im just surprised how easy i go down. 2 goblins for example were smacking me up, i was trying to block/counterattack but usually when i swing im still getting hit. Do i need to stock up on potions or something? Thanks..
DeusXMachina
If you're playing vanilla OB and you're trying to raise two different weapon skills at once, each of them may be not high enough to deal with the leveled enemies. On the other hand, if you're used to ranged stealth attacks, you'll see that melee fighting in OB needs an additional skill of the player himself: Acrobatics on the keyboard, like an FPS. Where you as a marksman only had to draw and fire, with a melee weapon you have to use severalspecial moves and block simultaneously and coordinated if you wanna succeed. I don't like this playstyle either :)
thejake1453
insted of being a warrior with sneak and bow (kind of ruins the point of being a warrior) consentrate on more things like blade, block, heavy armour, blunt etc all the skills classified as combat rather then stealth.endurance and strength and speed are useful too. when being a warrior choose the warrior star sign because that gives you a +10 bonus to strength and endurance. Just tell me if those tips hellped :)

Just tell me if those tips hellped :) Well i have the main things I need for a warrior - heavy armor, blade, block, etc, i had 2 spots after I had everything I needed as a warr so I figured go for bow and sneak to fit my style a little more =) I'm currently at 44 blade, 45 marks, and 47 heavy armor. Dont think its a prob with those stats. Thanksfor the advice, I have been concentrating on str endur an speed =). I think it may have been a gear issue though. In my old game i used OOO and honestly I think it made the game harder/more realistic and less fun. I had trouble making cash, finding gear, and felt like i kept running into bandits with fur on everywhere, even past lvl 10. Before making this char I switched to Frans/MMM and I'm loving it. So much variety of enemys and I can actually make cash and find loot now. Still level 5 but I just wiped out a raider camp (with the help of a guard) and cashed out tremendously. Upgraded nearly all my gear, and found a ring that casts chameleon passively and got a beautiful new sword. This char is now better geared then my old one at under half his lvl. Havent tried it out yet but we'll see if it makes a difference =)
Abramul
(Sorry, but I can't resist)Given your name, I'm surprised that you could hit anything with a bow. Maybe the extra 'n' helps.

Damn nippy B*****Ds. Of corse the instant they get a blade in the face, before falling over/getting paralized.
Vagrant0
One thing you could do is look for (or make) a mod that adjusts weapon damage to be better for what you want to do. When I started playing, I got annoyed with the fact that you go hacking away at someone for 5 mins (granted there is some blocking and dancing around), and they aren't dead. So I adjusted weapon damage so that typically you can kill most fodder stuff with a few hits, and most people with ten or less. Meanwhile it also increases the damage they do to you, so you kinda need to be more decisive. Not saying it's an answer for everyone, but it's the best answer I've found to get around that whole "I need to level on nothing but bladed for the first 7 levels in order to kill anything" kind of situation.
