Settler Expansion

For me, i like the idea of having settlements and cool things it brings, but for me i hate the micromanagement of having to place each water source, generator, bed and buildings, defences and food, setting up supply lines. It would be cool if the settlers expanded on their own, but once in a while requires you to intervene. I cant mod for my life, but maybe this can be done through quests, and so the settlement upgrades automatically to be bigger, more people, more water/food/defence, so the modder would design the settlement himself and the completion of each quest would trigger a new development in the settlement. So for example, you can do a quest to kill nearby raiders, this upgrades the settlements defences, or kill enemies near a water source, so more water in the settlement.
