jet4571
If you use the 1.2.33 beta patch set your plugins.txt to read only. Bethesda made another intelligent decision and decided to have the game reset the plugins.txt to the default nothing but Fallout4.esm state. Someone at Bethesda needs a swift kick in the nuts for these idiotic decisions.
LordGrievous
Thanks for the heads up. I don't think it's idiotic though. They're trying to test a beta patch. Feedback on a beta isn't very helpful if you're running a bunch of mods.
LuapYllier
this has now applied to non Beta play? My wife and I are not in any Beta that we are aware of and our plugin files have been nuked. And we are not even sure how to fix it. jet4571
Yeah it probably is affecting the latest patch. Below is where the plugins.txt is usually located, replace ****** with whatever your login is for windows. Right click on plugins.txt after adding your mods to the list and select read only. The launcher cant reset it that way but to add or remove mods from the list will require you to uncheck read only every time. C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Fallout4\plugins.txt
seuv
Hi guys, [EDIT] I found instructions on the other part of the forum, nevermind! I'm a little lost as of what I've to do with the file. What should I do aside from setting it up to read only? " Right click on plugins.txt after adding your mods to the list and select read only."This is the part i don't get Thanks! jet4571
Before you set it as read only make sure the mods you want to use are in the list like the example below. Then set it to read only and that's it, you are done preventing updates from mucking up your load order. When you want to add mods unset the read only and add your mods then once done set it back to read only. # This file is used by Fallout4 to keep track of your downloaded content.# Please do not modify this file.Fallout4.esmGameTweaks.espClimateTweaks.espAssaultRifle.espWorkshopTweaks.esp # Please do not modify this file. HAHAHAHA!!!!! Funny Bethesda! You crack me up!
KG989
any word as to whether Bethesda will reverse this and or restrict access to any DLC and such if this file has been modified?
jet4571
Read only means they cannot change the file, so no they cannot remove the Read Only flag.
KG989
I was more meaning restrictions on users who have modified the file being able to buy/ download/ install etc. any official Fallout 4 content [DLC, updates, extras. etc.] through legal means. jet4571
I doubt Zenimax would approve of them refusing to make a sale because a file was flagged as Read Only and I highly doubt they would even know who does it unless told.
