QShadow
I hate it how only very few guns use the very common .38 ammo type and the iconic Tommy Gun is overshadowed by a Combatrifle with an auto trigger. If a modder would be so nice to rechamber the Tommy Gun from .45 to .38 it would be real nice if thats possible with the currently available mod tools. kur0s4k1
I'd love too. The tommy completely falls with the combat rifle. Should get more power or rechambering to 10mm or .38.
bben46
IRL .38 is a pistol round and not really suitable as a rifle round. :pinch: (Although there is a older cartridge - the .38-40 that was made to be used in both pistols and rifles.) And the .45 ACP used in the tommy is also a pistol round. So, why not a .38 or 10mm Thompson? There were some .38 and 9mm Thompsons made as well as a few other calibers. As for the Fallout .38 rifle round, there were even Thompsons made that fired a standard 30-06 rifle cartridge and a .30 caliber carbine round although they were extremely rare. IRL the .38 is a much weaker round with much less damage than the real life .45 ACP. The Thompson is a fairly short range weapon and not nearly as accurate as a rifle even when chambered for a rifle round. I have no clue where the FO devs came up with using the .38 as a rifle round. I just 'assume' it was something developed after the FO universe diverged after the 1950s  And was used for balance in the game. As in the 1950s, t least in the US, 10mm was virtually unknown as a pistol round, and even 9mm was not that common - the .38 was probably by far the most common civilian pistol round used. (two variants - the normal .38 used in revolvers and the .38 ACP for automatics) In the 1960s you started seeing more powerful .38 rounds for the pistol only, probably starting with the .38 special and later .38 Magnum. The .44 was considered mostly a cowboy round until the .44 mag came along it was developed in the 1950s, but didn't really become popular until the Ruger Blackhawk in the 1960s. That's probably more than you wanted to know about this kind of stuff, so I'll stop here,
