Just for the record

Just to let everyone know because of a problem with my new video card (geForce 7800) and or Mods (Silgrad Towers for one) caused some jerking on running. I also got black screens on some doors I went through. I was in where ever but nothing could be seen. So I backed up the data folders and my saved games. I un-installed Oblivion and deleted everything that remained. I reloaded the game. Church tonight, so tomorrow (Thursday) I will put in only the Mods (official and not) that I am using in my last ten saves. Do a backup and see if I can start the game from one of my saves and pick up where I left off. This will be very clean way to test the mods with the Oblivion Mod Manager checking for conflicts, which I had down to almost nothing and then the true test of the video card. It is a supported card. It has 512MB on it. Nothing else on my PC runs any different since I installed the card except for faster display's. If this doesn't work, i get to do all and I do mean all the quests again. No matter, I will write back here with what ever happens. if this does work, it may be a fix for someone else having problems. This forum has been a great help to me in the past, and I thought this is a small way of apying back something.

Here is the scope. I put back all the mods I was using and all the DCL's from the back-up except for Shivering Isles. I installed that to get the patch from it. I went in and opened a save about two saves earlier. All my DCL's quests poped up telling me to start them. My video was in a permannet "night eye". I hit the escape key on the keyboard and went back about 7 saves earlier where I showed color in the preview window. That is all it took. No pop ups, all my gear is where it belongs in my inventory. No more hanging when I open the door, no more jerking when I run. If anyone trys this. Make sure you have all the mods you are using in a folder to load. Make a back-up of the data folder and the my documents\my games\oblivion folder. Do the un-install and then go back and delete the data folder and the my games\oblivion foler. make sure your back-ups are not in these folders first. Install the game, then your mods, then move in your DCL's. Go back to a save game that you can see everything you had before. if your missing something quit and check your mods and go back in. All is good!
