I have the followimg mods installed

oblivion.esm (of course)

armor_of_heavens_fury.esp (heavy only)

armor_of_heavens_fury_alt_helm.esp (heavy only)

P1Dkeychain.esp

carry_more_mod.esp

Oscuros_oblivion_overhaul_full

portablecampsite.esp

when I exit the game it often freezes showing the last screen when you hit exit and you have to power off the pc to remove it, you can't alt-tab off it and the start button to go to windows dosen't work. Also when I hit the tab during play the screen freezes for a short time before the inventory shows. and opening boxes usually takes 20+ seconds for them to open.

any ideas would be helpfull.

PS the game runs smooth with no slowdown or stuttering at all untill you attempt ine of the above actions.

What patch do you have installed 1,1 or 1.2? I think I remember seeing some people report similar lockups when they exit the game. It could also be a processor or other hardware issue as the game tries to unload all the information, the fact that you can even go to the desktop makes me think it it the latter (you aren't running anything major in the background are you?.

As for opening containers. It is a known issue when you're carrying alot of stuff as for whatever reason the game recalculates your weight, and the weight in the container every time it is opened (shops included). With 20 seconds you're lucky... I was looking at 1 minute+ times before I figured out that having fewer sets of equipment made things load faster. If however you only have about 20 things in your inventory (not counting keys and quest items) and you're experiencing problems, it may be another symtom of the problem above. However as you have a mod that changes how much you can carry, I would imagine you walking around with a few full sets of gear, and everything you've come across and havn't felt like selling.

What's your inventory look like? If you're literally carrying around enough gear to stock even a small army, it could be part of the problem.

Otherwise, reinstall oblivion back to 1.1, and stick with 1.1 compatable mods till more 1.2 issues are fixed. As for comparing it to other games, even before 1.2 Oblivion can be alot more resource depandant than even newer games. I have a dualcore 2.6 processor (and yeah, oblivion uses both cores, sometimes 100% on both) and still run into slow shutdown (or just crashing to desktop), problems with too much inventory, 1.2 really just seems to make alot of it worse.

I've had something similar but it happens randomly and isn't that much of bother.

But, besides that, i cannot help you with testing mod conflicts, but there's a console command that quits without any menus -

qqq

Maybie this could help somehow?

okay I'll give it a try. would installing shivering isles help at all???

okay I'll give it a try are most mods okay with the unofficial patch & would shivering isles help at all?

Until you know what's causing the problem, I probably wouldn't, especially if you've already installed 1.2 for normal. For some reason installing SI (which comes with 1.2) over a game that has already been patched to 1.2 causes even more problems.

You're sidestepping the question... What is in your inventory?
