Has anyone tried to fix the render distance?

I have noticed when using scoped weapons, such as the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle that the render distance is actually quite short. I don't know much about mods, but could someone make it farther, for people with higher end machines that could handle it. Or will the game engine itself crash under the rendering?
