Long War Game doesn't start anymore

Hello,

played the game yesterday without problems. today, wanted to continue but when I click on the Enemy Within symbol in the launcher, the launcher crashes. Then I have three XcomEW.exe in my task manager, two of which can't be shut down.

I tried doing a validation (getting 31 files to be downloaded new) and reinstalled the mod. Same effect, game wouldn't start, launcher crashed but now I have five XcomEW.exe in my task manager, of which 4 won't shut down, no matter how often I try.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried a "cold boot" (by which I mean a complete power down and wait at least 30 seconds by the clock before restarting)? That absolutely should clear out any previous instances of the game which are still running.

At a guess you are using "hibernation" when you end your session, which is restoring the game files that haven't had enough time to be closed yet. Multiple instances of the game are a definite "no-no-no". Try turning "hibernation" off. Otherwise you will need to check in the task manager that everything related to the game has been closed before ending the session.

Actually yes. After the first attempt, I shut off my computer to go to work and tried again after a reboot once I was back home. The five instances of the game executable was after I tried it, failed, validated, reinstalled mod, and tried again that second time.

Hi again, from russia, sorry for my English....Before launcher began to crush, I updated the video card driver. Maybe it will give you something? Now I try to install the old driver back....Other methods do not help.

If that does not work, will only reinstall the system :pinch:

Experiencing the same problem.Worked fine on Thursday, went to bed,not launching the next morning.Windows 10 update the culprit perhaps?

Update/Edit - Did the ol "verify file" thing at Steam then reloaded "Long War",restarted computer...Works great now!!
