MetalThrashingMadman
After installing NMM and a couple of texture replacment mods I have been having consistent problems with framerates whenever I first load an area, and load times seem to be increased significantly. The framerate issue seems to resolve itself after a couple minutes of walking around so it is by no means a big deal. I'm just a little annoyed because before modding everything was running perfectly on max settings. Never had so much as a dip in framerate, and load times were super fast mostly. Is this just a common issue when modding this game?
Artyom935
Bump. Same issue with me only I started having long loading times, frame dips and freezes about 2 days after F04 patch and NMM patch. I did not add any new mods at all. Only thing i did was update my plugins file and made it read only. I also tried doing the edit to the custom.ini file via gophers video but it made no difference. The other ini file are still untouched with the needed edits. I will try again when i get out of work and see if it has changed. If not I will verify integrity of cache and start anew. Also my drivers are up to date.
galanaf
Problem is Bethesda's patch, not NMM. They mention improving memory management in the patch notes. What they mean by improve is that they screwed it up royally. I mean really bad.... http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102/? Download and put this somewhere easy to find, and use it to tweak your settings until you find a sweet spot. Biggest settings for fixing the stuttering is going to be Shadows, God Rays and Texture Pop-in multiplier. I already had my settings in a good spot so I only had to bump the texture pop-in multiplier down one notch, but if you haven't already tweaked your .ini's quite a bit you might as well play with all of the settings until you find something that works for you. JudgeMental
Best I can tell NMM installs the mods while still zipped/7z/rar and extracts them when used. At least thats the best I could understand looking in the mod install folder.

When the mod is installed all of the files are placed correctly in the FO4 folder. What I've already described is exactly what's happening. Moreover, don't expect to install .5-2.5 gigs of HD textures without taking a performance hit on a poorly optimized game.
